About this deal

Absolutely NOT. I have never been able to use tampons I just can't get them in right, too drying and irritating on putting in and removing, I can always feel them. However with a cup from the very first time it was perfect. Easy to get in and doesn't need to be positioned high as tampons. Get Acquainted with yourself: It is always a good idea to know your own body. Take some time to locate the vaginal opening and even insert a finger to locate your cervix. It feels like the tip of your nose. Knowing where your cervix is will help you to position the cup properly and not insert it too high. If you have a high cervix, you may not be able to feel it with your fingers, which is totally normal! It works well (doesn’t leak!) and is easy to insert and remove. I’d recommend the Lunette to all my friends. It’s one of the most expensive ones you can buy, but for the quality, it’s worth it. I love that it’s made in Europe too (where I live). The rim is prominent but not stiff and uncomfortable.” Sensitive bladder? The softer model 1 might be a match made in heaven for you. FAQs How do I know if my flow is heavy or light? Most people find that this isn’t a big deal and they just have to be a little bit patient. However, for some, this can cause some serious discomfort. If this is the case for you, we recommend switching to a softer menstrual cup. These cups will not push so strongly, and will in turn not restrict the urethra. What about Swimming or Traveling?

The first reason is that the Lunette collects, rather than absorbs menstrual fluid like with tampons. This helps to maintain the natural lubrication in your vagina. After your period is done and you’ve disinfected it, store it NOT in an airtight container. This is the worst possible thing you can do to your cup besides it’s a bacteria breeding ground. They like to breathe. Store it in the bag that came with your period cup, or wrap it loosely in a paper towel and put in a drawer.

Mornings can be particularly difficult because menstrual cups often migrate higher up. Wait and hour or two after waking up if you have trouble right away. Something to be aware of is that it can overflow if you don’t change it often enough. 12 hours is the maximum recommend time for safety reasons. But, if you have a heavy flow, then you’ll need to change it sooner than that. Determining how full a menstrual cup may be requires a little mental math and an understanding of your own flow. While you can wear a menstrual cup for up to 12 hours, you will need to empty it more frequently on heavy flow days. Do menstrual cups leak when you lay down? The suction seal ensures that no menstrual fluid can escape. Instead, it’s collected in the cup. You can wear the Lunette for 8-12 hours (or a little bit less if you have a very heavy flow). One of the major disadvantages of a menstrual cup is how to clean it when you’re in public bathroom. As you can see from the above section, it’s really quite easy to keep your period cup clean when you are at home.

How we tested

Squeeze bottom to release suction: This is the key — the bottom of the cup has ridges for gripping. Grip the bottom and tweak the cup to the side. The idea is to pull an edge away from the vaginal wall to release the suction. You will hear or feel it when this happens. This company has just got it right. It’s stiff enough that it’ll pop open once inserted into your vaginal canal. But, it’s not so stiff as to create super-suction which makes removal more difficult.

You can grab the stem to pull the cup down a little bit until you can grasp the base and release the suction seal.In reality, this isn’t a big deal. Most menstrual cup companies (including Lunette) recommend emptying your cup every 12 hours. If you go past that by a little bit, don’t stress. Just change it as soon as you can. Both are internal menstrual protection. A menstrual cup collects the blood and the tampon absorbs it. A tampon can be used only once whereas a menstrual cup can be used for many years. Lunette mentions that you should use their special Feelbetter Menstrual Cup Cleanserto make your cup “squeaky clean,” but in our opinion, it’s probably unnecessary. Most people find that plain old soap and water works quite well

If the strings seem longer than normal, your IUD has probably moved. See your doctor if this is the case. Since you can wear a menstrual cup for up to 12 hours, most people don’t have issues with the cup overflowing overnight. However, you’re the best judge of your own flow. You may need to change it more frequently on certain days. When you rinse your cup, remember to always use cold water to avoid staining it! If your cup is already stained, let it sit under the sun for a couple hours, or soak it in spirit vinegar or lemon juice and boil it for... you guessed it, 20 MINUTES! Cleaning the menstrual cup air-holes Yes, your cup might start to smell if you don’t take proper care of it. How do you prevent your cup from smelling? First off, know that just because it smells doesn’t mean it’s dirty! We ALL have different bodies, which also means different body odors ;). We can't emphasize this enough – boil your cup for 20 minutes every time BEFORE and AFTER every cycle, rather than 10 minutes.Insertion and removal is reasonably easy for most people as well. This is again due to the stiffness of the cup—not too soft, but not too hard. Another concern that many people have during their period is worrying about smells. Thankfully, we’re all about taking care of period woes, which is why we’ve got a number of secrets to share with you to ensure your menstrual cup is always fresh and free of any funky smells.
