Depending on the number of threads, the 4790S is anywhere from .1 to .2 GHz slower than the 4790. This isn't much - only about 2.5 to 5.3% slower - but it lines up almost exactly with what we say in our real world benchmarks. We have no explanation for why this is, although it could simply be that we had an unusually hot running 4790S and an unusually cool running 4790.
