About this deal

Since this Fluval model is compact and more traditional looking, you will most likely use this as an accent within a room and not as the visual centerpiece of the space. This means that the rest of the space in your room should be able to carry its own visual appeal and aesthetics without relying upon the look of this smaller aquarium. Be mindful of the qualify, finish and appearance of hardwood materials in your floor (and your stairs!) that are part of the room that the Fluval Spec is placed in. Bright, shiny hardwoods speak for themselves in creating a visual impact separate from the aquarium. My advice at this time is to mess around with what you have already. Then settle on a layout you like. There is no need to modify the tank to disperse heat. The Fluval heater will fit in the compartment with the return pump, and therefore the return pump will draw the warmed water into the tank. If you poke holes in your return compartment, you are going to draw water in through those holes because of the suction of the return pump and you'll be bypassing the filter. For a betta, that tank is just fine the way it is, and very well designed.

It comes in 2 sizes, 19 litre and 10 litre and a choice of colour. I’ll be reviewing* a white 19-litre tank that will be set up as a tropical step. This is a traditional looking compact aquarium that can be touched up or enhanced with lights and other accessories. There are a ton of Fluval-branded matching accessories you can use with the Fluval Spec aquarium. N30 provides expertise in the construction of large acrylic aquariums, such as those in Underwater World (Resort World Sentosa). We supply customised storage tanks to fish farms such as Qian Hu, and to major restaurants. The N30 brand name is trusted for quality workmanship in the industry. If after a last minute Christmas gift, or a first time tank with a little versatility, this is the one to ask Santa for. Ultimately it's your choice. I feel the Fluval is worth the price, as most things in this hobby tend to be. Then used some bubble wrap to pour the water over to avoid disturbing the setup I have (This is my top tip for filling your aquarium!).What I like best about the Fluval Spec line of aquariums is their ‘all in one’ appearance, where the display tank, lights, and filtration system are all in one box. When setting up our Spec V aquarium, it was only natural to try to find a heater that would fit into the pump section and be totally enclosed. In my research, I found a few heaters that would work well. I will talk about these and also go into some other aspects of aquarium heaters. Option 1: Fitting a Heater in the Fluval Spec Pump Section

I think this is the preferred method for putting a heater in your Fluval Spec – it keeps things tidy and clean in appearance. Things get somewhat tight in the pump section of Fluval Spec aquariums, what with the pump and outlet tube traveling up from the pump occupying part of the space. I found that there is enough room for a heater, but you have to look for ones that are small enough. It is tempting to oversize your heater, but remember, aquarium heaters do not fail "off" they fail "on"...so you put a 50W heater in a 5 gallon tank, which is total overkill, and in five or six years when that puppy fails you have betta soup. Yep, its definitely a struggle! I actually read through your thread before making this post and was going to message you if I found a good one! Hopefully this can help us both

How to Install the pump:

As a general rule, the 5 gallon Spec V aquarium can have either a 25 watt or a 50 watt. I use a 50 watt and it certainly does not need more heating power. I think a 25 watt would have sufficed as well for our home.

First of all, you should be looking for a submersible heater; one that can be fully dunked. Aquarium heaters are predominantly of this type. Second, if it comes with suction cups for mounting, strongly consider not using these. It is generally too tight to get the heater mounted with them on. When you shove the heater down into the pump section, it will get wedged somewhere between the glass and the outlet tube. You’ll need to tank this on and off to do water changes, float new fish, clean the filter and its easier to take it off to clean the glass too.In short, the heater goes wherever you can fit it and will probably be different from model to model. I came to the above pump orientation because it led to a nice spot for the heater – wedged in between the center wall and the outlet tube. I have detailed pictures of the heater installed in my Hydor Theo Aquarium Heater review. How to Remove the Pump from a Spec Aquarium The Fluval Spec 19 Litre Aquarium in white also comes with Carbon media and Biomax rings (3 stage filtration) This might be obvious to most, but it took me a minute. You might feel trapped once you get the pump wedged down into the pump section and then discover you need to take it out. If you want to remove the pump, it is easy. Don’t pull up from the silicone tube. Instead, just pull up on the electric cord. It is plenty sturdy to lift the pump up from the suction cups on the bottom and get it out. Sometimes it may get wedged because the plug pulls the unit up crooked. In that case, pull up gently at the same time on both the flow tube and the electric cord. Frankly as I look at it now especially compared to all the scapes on here - it was rubbish!!...but it was a start.

The question in my mind is the balance between smaller - so a smaller mouth and can eat only the small fry; or bigger and so cannot go where the fry may hide.Use a clean cloth and just water, rinse out and clean over the tank thoroughly. Rinse over the filter sponges and replace them as they were. Step two – Setup the filter I added the moss by super glueing it to the wood (see the bog wood wall blog for how this is done but its soooo easy!). The Fluval Spec 19 Litre aquarium in a beautiful white finish is a stunning aquarium, ideal for first time fish keeping hobbyists. Integrated with a fantastic LED lighting system, aquarium fish and plants have an ideal source of natural looking light available for the best growth and developmental results whilst also enhancing the vibrant colours of your aquarium inhabitants. There is another that will fit in the taller Spec III (but will not fit in the smaller pump section of the Spec V):
