About this deal

There are generally 2 ways to gain entrance at 13 plus. The first method is by taking exams in Year 6: This falls around the same time as 11+ exams, and it is really a chance to give students deferred entry at year 9. The tests can include online ISEB, written maths and English, non-verbal reasoning, verbal reasoning, school report, interview and group activity. If children pass the assessment, they are offered a space for the school, this is usually a conditional offer of children passing the Common Entrance or similar exams in year 8. To enhance its financial benefits, a scholarship can be coupled with a bursary. Bursaries are means-tested and can only be awarded following a thorough evaluation of the household’s financial circumstances. Our practice tests are used successfully every year by tens of thousands of students targeting schools with a competitive entrance exam. They are age-appropriate, reflecting the demands of the actual exam. The following Skill Practice Tests each focus on one module that will come up in the CAT4 Level E assessment, allowing you to target the specific modules that your child finds most challenging. At 10+, 11+ or 13+ pre-test and 13+ there is a combination of computer-based and written testing. Computer based testing will consist of a General Assessment (50 minutes) and Creative Comprehension and Verbal Reasoning (30 minutes). General Assessment (50 minutes):

The non-academic provision is just as extensive, featuring numerous clubs and societies such as beekeeping, climbing, debating, fencing, Islamic Society and Japanese Calligraphy Club. For the purpose of maximising the cultural awareness and sensibility of each boy on campus, Whitgift organises trips and expeditions to thrilling destinations, including China and Hong Kong, as well as exotic countries settled in the Middle East. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] We highly recommend the use of the following papers to help develop your son’s arithmetic and problem-solving skills within the examination context of the Whitgift School 13 Plus standard entry maths test: Sitting the 13 Plus exam is generally seen as a second chance at gaining entry to a grammar school. The exam is only offered in certain areas of the UK and can be taken by students in Year 7 or Year 8. As the exam is taken after the 11 Plus exam, students will have more time to revise and go over the topics they were struggling with. The 13 Plus test is not as popular as the 11 Plus exam and is not accepted by all grammar schools. All boys who sit the entrance examinations are automatically considered for an academic scholarship; Scholarships are not means-tested. Scholarships range in value from 10% to one third of tuition fees.

The English paper will examine comprehension and writing skills, including grammar, inference and punctuation. The following practice papers will provide useful preparation for the Oxford High School 12+ Reasoning paper, taken in Year 7: Sevenoaks is also one of the few independent schools in the country that switched entirely from A level exams to the International Baccalaureate. Our recommendations to help your child prepare for the Wycombe Abbey 13 plus entrance examination can be found below. The maths exam has three papers and these include a calculator paper, a non-calculator paper and a mental arithmetic paper. You will then be introduced to a science paper which can be either one paper or three and will assess your knowledge on biology, chemistry and physics.
