About this deal
The improvement work, which will be carried out by developers following planning permission for residential development in the area, includes the widening of the Prince William Road , extension of the existing underpass at the location and provision of a new traffic signal junction at Ballymacash Road including the provision of PUFFIN controlled pedestrian crossings within the junction layout. The scheme will take approximately nine months to fully complete. A major road improvement scheme at the Prince William Road/ Ballymacash Road junction in Lisburn will commence Monday 17 July 2023.
Road Closure beginning Monday 27 th November at 22:00 – Friday 1 st December at 06:00 (4 nights – Overnight only) Phase 2 – re-aligned Hillsborough Road to the south side of the original Hillsborough Road junction will require weekday lane closures (using 4 Way Traffic Control) from Monday 13 November 2023 until Friday 8 December 2023, between the hours of 9.30am and 4.30pm. A continuous weekend road closure will also be required to facilitate carriageway resurfacing from Saturday 2 December 2023 at 7.00am until Sunday 3 December 2023 at 7.00pm Ballymacash Road (west ) will also close for two weeks and Ballymacash (east) into Lisburn will close for up to six months from the 17 July. The contractor has made significant progress implementing this scheme and the initial programme has been revised below: -

The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience, however road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions. Traffic from A8 Harbour Highway - A8 Harbour Highway/Ballymena Road, Antiville Rounabout, A8 Ballymena Road, U4105 Pound Street, U4106 Victoria Road, A2 Glenarm Road.
The work will be undertaken off-peak (09.30-16.30), overnight and over a number of weekends to reduce the impact on commuter traffic A carriageway and footway resurfacing scheme on A23 Moneyreagh Road, Moneyreagh will commence on Monday 11 September 2023.Further road closure will be required towards the end of the scheme for surfacing of the junction, however these will be planned to minimise the effect on general traffic.
