About this deal

The plastic color is still a bit ugly. Metal options in other colors for upscale fences might be nice. See our range of Roller Barrier videos for more information about this versatile and popular product. Slide the 3″ PVC over the 1″ PVC. The 3″ PVC will spin over the 1″ stopping a cat from escaping or a coyote from coming in. If you have fence panels with large, flat areas, you can use a 9-inch roller to speed up the painting process. But for most panels, a 4-inch roller is perfectly adequate.

Start by painting the hard-to-reach areas and edges with a brush. Work in sections from top to bottom, so you can see where you have painted. Rinse and repeat these sections side by side along the top of the fence until the entire fence is topped with rollers. Shown here installed along a walltop - raising it`s effective height with a non-aggressive anti climb barrier.

Cat-proofing your yard has long been considered too difficult... Until Now...

Alternatively, you can use one of the best pressure washers, but you will need to wait for at least 24 hours for the fence to dry before recommencing the paint job. There are several options to consider when painting a fence. We take a closer look at each one, its pros and cons, and how best to apply. If you’re a dog owner, you know that dogs have an amazing sense of smell and a wonderful curiosity about everything happening outside their own fenced yards. If your dogs are anything like mine, they thoroughly investigate every inch of the yard and even try to push the boundaries as often as they can. Enter this roll bar fence DIY & my Dad to the rescue. FYI we’re not a professional builders, just dog owners that needed a solution and this totally helped us with our problem. First, you will need a 4-5 inch brush and maybe a smaller brush, too, for hard-to-reach areas. Make sure you have protective sheets on the floor to catch drips. The most important point to remember when installing Oscillot® is that your cat needs to be jumping from the ground to the top of the fence in a single motion with no help on the way up in the form of "ladders or platforms". "Ladders and platforms" are objects next to the fence such as trees, trellis, sheds and garden beds etc.

Worldwide installations range from the USA and Canada, to Australia and New Zealand, so you can be sure that it is suitable for use whatever the environment. Flat Roof Edge ProtectionDid you know that if an intruder injured themselves while climbing over anti climb spikes fixed to your walls, or fences, you could find yourself being prosecuted? Cats love to play and lounge around in the sunshine – their natural curiosity means that they are always keen to explore their environment but keeping them safe can be a worry. A hidden cat fence can give you absolute confidence in your cat’s welfare and the lightweight collars give every cat the chance to indulge their innate tendency to prowl and climb yet have a stretch section for complete safety when they are out and about in the garden. Moving house with a cat fence Next, get your roller — start at the top of a section and work across and down. This will help smooth out any drips that might land below where you are painting. After 3 months of use, it seems to be doing its job, which is why I wanted to share this roll bar fence DIY to help other furbaby parents who are running out of low-cost options. A single fence panel should take you around 10-20 minutes to complete using this method, depending on how many edges you have to paint.

Cats, on the other hand, have very different abilities, as they are able to stop their forward momentum and hold on to many surfaces with their claws before continuing their climb. This allows them to pause and search for the “path of least resistance” as they approach the top of the fence, calculating their next move. Many cat-proof fence roller systems have been adapted from the original coyote rollers with this in mind, and now there are several options available exclusively for use with cats. Rollers sit on top of a fence and roll or slide deterring your cat from walking along the top of the fence or trying to get over. They also go by the name “coyote roller”“. Coyote rollers were devised to prevent coyotes from coming inside your fence and grabbing your small dog or cat. Instead of spending thousands of dollars to redo the fence, the roll bar on the top of the fence is intended to keep your pets in by making it difficult for them to grab the top because the roll bar makes them fall off with its spinning capabilities (much like how a rolling-pin works). The added benefit is that it also keeps other animals and/or predators like coyotes from entering your yard. The rain and cold (5°C and below) are your enemies when painting a fence; ergo, the spring and summer months are the best time to paint outside. With no spikes to cause injury, many local authorities now specify this versatile anti-climb device as the anti-climb system of choice for use in and around: schools, public & historic buildings, parks & gardens, car parks and many more locations.
