About this deal

Sometimes, in life, you face challenges. Challenges you’ve never faced before. And you will be defined by how you respond to those challenges. Life’s tough. Sometimes there are no easy choices.” As the bodies start to pile up, Wendy digs into her case and discovers connections that lead her to a Mexican nanny with a dangerous past. I wasn't happy with Daniel's daughter and her actions at a certain point and I wasn't sure what the truth of some events were. Was Daniel lying? Who knows? I liked the writing was so British, I am based in the UK so familiar terms and language was really great.

DI Helen Grace is a genuinely fresh heroine ... MJ Arlidge weaves together a tapestry that chills to the bone' I do enjoy Kelly’s style of writing, it’s reader-friendly quite fast-paced where it needs to be and each character is memorable. Wendy is abuot to have a one-night stand. At the last moment she decides that she can not go through with it. She is in tbe hotel bathroom when she hears voices arguing. There is another man in the room and he is holding a gun. The next thing, the man that Wendy was about to have sex with is shot and killed. Wendy acting on impluse shots the other man and then takes off running. Wendy goes into hiding trying to figure out a way to clear her name. Wendy and her husband, Dave, had a spat last night and are still not speaking. She is meeting up with her friend, Pam, in a bar to have some drinks and to talk about it. Pam is running late and Wendy starts chatting with Curtis, who is also at the bar. Pam texts that she can't make it after all and Wendy ends up in Curtis' hotel room. Before it goes too far, Wendy stops things and goes into the washroom to freshen up. While she's in there, she sees a man come into Curtis' room and shoot him. To save herself, Wendy shoots the guy and ends up on the run when she is blamed for the murders. I think it is a very nice book with an interesting story which I would highly recommend especially if you are interested in the history of England and Australia. Although this book is a diary it is written with a mixture of narrative and dialogue which you wouldn’t usually expect. It would be good if there was a follow up to tell her new life in Australia. These two souls end up working together to for one prove her innocence and another to free the last ones of her family before they are the ones killed as a final vendetta. well what I found was a story that first and foremost was very readable, written in a style that I enjoyed. It's a story that starts in Cyprus after Audrey's wedding has been called off very last minute, and then continues in London, with the support of her friends and family. One thing I would point out (although minor I know) is that some people may mistake this book for his last as the covers are similar at a glance. I know this is minor but can’t help but feel it may make some people skim past it online, thinking they have already read it, which I certainly wouldn’t recommend! Wendy Gould and Laurita Velez are the two main characters in this new book and their worlds will become terrifyingly dangerous as the book starts as a pretty fast paced read from the get go! Catherine tells Mary Philips (little girl) who stole her dress. The police come and arrest Mary with Jane who is taken to two courts, found guilty and sentenced to death. They are taken to Newgate Prison and make friends with a girl called Sal. This novel is about a married woman who recently had an argument with her husband. She goes to a bar and while there she meets a man. She heads up to his room for a one night stand. Before she knows it she is thrust into a conspiracy that has dire consequences for her. This is your basic thriller novel.

I cannot finish this review without mentioning the stunning cover artwork which links beautifully with the storyline. It’s not the first time Urbane publishers have sold a book to me purely with a drop dead gorgeous cover design and I’m sure it won’t be the last. I found, as usual, a couple of copy-editing misses (seems to be pretty typical in e-books), and one small but glaringly improbable scene in which Wendy, the protagonist, colors her dark hair to blonde in "a few minutes" in a public restroom. It's a minor point, but any woman who knows much about hair coloring could have told Gross that going from dark brown to blonde is a somewhat lengthy process involving bleach and toner and would be tough to do in a public restroom without a shower to rinse everything out, and in "a few minutes". Ha! Audrey’s heart and mind is very unsettled and Cyprus is not proving much of a distraction especially when she literally falls in the lap of wealthy and handsome businessman Daniel Taylor. Daniel turns out to be Audrey’s very own Prince Charming but is she ready to be swooned so soon? This story starts with a simple marital spat, an argument between two people who love each other deeply, but let emotion control them for just a day. Not much time, but in that period, Wendy Gould (the wife) almost sleeps with another man. Almost--she stops herself in time, but can't get out of the hotel room before her potential paramour is murdered and she must kill a Federal agent to save her own life. She flees for home and confides in her husband--the bad and the ugly--but before they can tell her story to the police, he is killed and she must run for her life from a rogue federal agent. I have to say, this story did not disappoint. First of all I want to say that I warmed to Audrey, and this did not take long. She’s loyal, not one to rush into things and did all she could to guard her heart, although Dan showed no signs of danger.

Audrey's home in London, where she meets Daniel again, he being the Cypriot developer her parents are working with, and the man whom she met in Cyprus one night where she drunkenly landed in his lap at the restaurant where she was dining with her parents. He was a savior of sorts when he turned in her lost Louboutin, and thinking of her as Cinderella. So when he sees Audrey again at her parents' home, he's smitten all over again and pursues her with intensity. His intensity is intoxicating to Audrey and they begin a whirlwind relationship. But, he's got secrets and when those secrets bite him in the ass, will Audrey stay strong and stand by this man she barely knows? Or will she do something stupid and get herself in trouble? These seemingly unrelated protagonists really have a lot more in common than you initially think. And eventually they will band together to take on the bad guys together... Audrey has vague recollections of the evening that preceded the hangover—a handsome man, a lost shoe, lots of dancing and drinking…and making a fool of herself. She’s mortified when Daniel, the man who’s lap she fell into, speaks to her as she spends her last day in Cyprus on the beach, telling her he handed her lost shoe to the manager of the restaurant. This book overall to me was okay. I thought, without giving spoilers, that it was generally presented in a simplistic style and with its many twists and turns. This was good but nothing earth shattering.
