I am excited to see how this will look with McFarlane’s Batcave playset when I eventually get to opening it. Like the Batmobile, there’s mercifully very little assembly required, as almost every piece comes ready to use out of the box. It’s a bright and colorful presentation, just like the show, but it also kind of leans toward that deliciously cheap rack toy motif that I find irresistible and makes me want to keep them carded. I have so much McFarlane stuff to look at, it’s really going to have to become a semi-weekly thing next year. Gotham City is filled with a rogue’s gallery of criminals eager to unmask the Batman, but they are thwarted by the Caped Crusader’s own clever ways.

I was really impressed with the different colors they used to render the Batphone, steering wheel, and some of the various levers in the main console of the car, which I kind of wish extended to other parts of the vehicle. The sculpts are certainly modern and all around quite excellent, so I think the retro moniker which means they have less articulation than the DC Multiverse. Stately WAYNE MANOR™ is the luxurious home of millionaire playboy BRUCE WAYNE™ and his faithful ward DICK GRAYSON™.

This means they won’t snap or break easily, which is great considering how thin and delicate they are, but that also makes them pretty easy to warp. In the series, they were more of a brownish color, but again, minor gripes on an overall fantastic car. As with Robin, there is the standard version of the character as well as a chase variant, but in this case the unmasked version is the more common figure as opposed to the much more rare masked variant. On the other hand, that toy is going for quite a bit these days so this might be a decent cheaper alternative, especially if you just want a Batmobile to display on your shelf. Still, I’d take that over a potential break, and considering how great the overall vehicle looks, it’s a fair trade. Batman and Robin have many gadgets in their arsenal, but none more hi-tech and stylish than the Batmobile—ready to power on with the touch of a button.That may have been because the more acrobatic Boy Wonder lends himself to inspiration easier than the more stoic Caped Crusader, but I had some fun getting some good shots out of Robin.
