About this deal

The bright screen is really appealing and both Mia and Lottie absolutely love the smiley star and sunshine faces when they appear! When setting the clock, the face shows a cool relaxing moon face with a series of stars that disappear until the clock is ready to tell the child they may get up. You can set the time that you would like the children to get up, after this you then press a button and the countdown to morning begins.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. At night, or nap time at the weekends, we go into his room, and after I’ve pressed the magic button, we say “Bye-bye Mr Sun” and watch while he winks, closes his eyes and makes way for blue, sleepy Mr Star. Although it is stated that the Gro Clock is suitable from age 2+ years, we’ve been using it with 20 month old BattleKid and he has responded brilliantly to it.

The Gro Clock is a great bedtime aid and is a product I can see coming more into its own as BattleKid gets older and as he moves from cot to bed.

We practised by pretending to sleep, wake, see it was blue, pretend sleep again then switch it to the yellow sun then wake up all happy. There is also a great reward chart to download from the Gro Company with great tips and a lovely chart, which matches the Gro-clock’s images. However, Mia let me know that she had seen the ‘sunshine face’ come out and was very, very excited about it! It is then so easy to use that Ethan turns his on himself at bedtime, it's just another step in his routine. As with all Gro products, these are well thought out, practical, easy to use and designed with children and parents in mind. It doesn’t wake Eliza up too much, which means I can dream feed quietly and gently and pop her straight back into bed. Funding may be available to help pay for this product through grants available to families and organisations.

I’ve chosen the lowest setting and during the night this is ample for the Gro Clock to act as a night-light. We will continue to use both the Gro-Clock and the Gro-Light for many years to come, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. As for the mornings, it has been a slow process – but by gradually increasing the time we expect him to stay in bed we have managed to get him from a 6am wake up to a 6. I am currently touring Primary, Junior and Prep schools in Devon, reading Master Owl meets Miss Bunny and teaching mindfulness to children aged between 5 and 11 years old. The Gro Clock also conforms to the highest British and European Standards, big pluses in my scientific books, as with all Gro Company products. Please sign up to my newsletter, so I can keep you updated with my various projects, including exclusive access to my latest Master Owl stories. Expecting your toddler to lie patiently in her bed for two hours more than she's used to just isn’t reasonable. The Groclock sleep trainer uses colours and pictures to help children who are too young to read an ordinary clock, to understand when it’s time to sleep and when it’s time to spring out of bed and play! When it gets to the wake up time you have chosen, the display will change to a yellow sun, meaning it is time to get up.

I found it much easier to get hands on with the Gro-clock and it was really straight forward to use like this. The Gro Clock has a great built-in energy-saving mode so although it is mains operated you don’t need to worry about energy consumption. I set the times as exactly the same as each other (as advised) as Mia and Lottie both don’t nap in the day. We have a Gro-Clock but I’m still trying to get into a routine with it and don’t recognise the difference between sleep time and getting up time yet!

Bath, pyjamas, stories and milk, it's just that simple but the kids really like that comfort of knowing what's coming next at bedtime and what to expect. If Izzy is a little grouchy and doesn’t seem keen to go to bed we ask her shall we go and say Goodnight to the Sun and she will eagerly say YES. If you think your kid will milk this for all it’s worth, here's a hack for you: Try to avoid it in the first place by manually waking up Mr.
