Unfortunately, if you try to force an incorrect refill in your pen, you may cause irreparable damage. Neither classic nor slim refill versions fit - both are right length but are too wide at the nib tip and cannot pass through the end section of the pen. These are not interchangeable, as one pushes into the front-end section of the pen and the other screws into a threaded section of the front end of the pen.
When I started looking for a substitute, I also tried the Pilot and Uni refills I had on hand, as well as standard ISO sized rollerball refills, and every one was too fat to fit into the barrel. Check out our guide, Ballpoint Rollerball or Gel Pen, for more information on the different types of pens and inks. Gel ink refills are fantastic for bright vibrant colours, and smooth steady writing lines, but this does come at the cost of the refills life.I have a ballpoint pen of unknown manufature that has a refill measuring 70 mm long by 5 mm at the non writing end the main width of the refill is approx 2 mm. The Cross Switch it pencil converter is a neat little gadget that can turn a Cross ballpoint pen fitted with a Cross Classic refill into a mechanical pencil. Although we do our best to ensure our pictures and descriptions explain our products as clearly as possible, sometimes you may find that when your item arrives it's not quite as you expected, or you may have simply changed your mind. For years I've had a Cross Selectip Rolling Ball pen (very simple looking) and I thought I had a second Selectip which I don't use but looks the same as the one I've been using. You’d need to go to a vintage pen specialist or directly to Sheaffer for further information on historical models and parts. I am looking for a ballpoint refill compatible to a Sailor 83-09 (Fine), which is metal 90mm long and 3mm in diameter (ink and ballpoint tip) with a crimp at 32-34mm. These writing instruments have a lifetime quality warranty, meaning you will need a consistent supply of ink, depending on your usage.
He uses his expertise with premium writing utensils to create exceptional, intentional products and craft easy-to-understand articles that help both new and experienced users learn more about their writing tools.
