It is challenging to put this film into a genre as it is a superb mix of many, superbly shot and directed by Christoph Gans it has rightly gained cult status over the years. Thanks to the support of Studiocanal and Metropolitan, we were able to rescan and reassemble the entire film shot by shot, ensuring the feature was remastered in the best possible quality. The reproduction, modification, distribution, or republication of the content without permission is strictly prohibited. With a fantastic cast including Samuel Le Bihan (Braquo), Jérémie Renier (In Bruges), Vincent Cassel (La Haine), Monica Bellucci (Irreversible), it also features a breakout performance from John Wick 3 martial arts star Mark Dacascos.The film tends to lean towards the latter, but it’s done with such gumption and incredible style that you can’t help but get swept up.

Some of the CGI effects of the full beast can look a little dated now, but they’ve always been a little off from the start. Two versions of the film have been released on DVD, and now Blu-ray -- Theatrical Version and Director's Cut.

A mysterious and deadly creature, resembling a giant wolf, is believed to be responsible for the carnage. The film integrates exotic themes of horror, sex, martial arts and fantasy – all of which allowed the director to put his imaginative style to good use. The first sequence shows footage of the relationship between Grégoire de Fronsac and the two ladies. During the reign of Louis XV, an isolated district of south-central France was haunted by the “Beast of Gévaudan” which savagely killed over 100 people, primarily women and children.
