About this deal

And while we consider these questions of right and wrong, Cross presents feral London, with its vigilantes doling out summary justice on one hand and prankists taking advantage to play tricks on the other. He reaches into the backpack and removes his tools: a Taser, a silvery roll of duct tape (one corner folded over for easy access), a scalpel, a carpet knife. I'm being Captain Nit-Picky about this because Neil Cross' character is so phenomenal and I feel he always needs the best possible stage to perform, but this is a novel that's way more enjoyable than your average crime read. One thing you should know about this book is that where the story of the book ends the first season of the tv show Luther starts, so far any spoilers. Once I have isolated that fear – the guy under the bed … that’s a shared anxiety with so many of us – once I’ve got that initial spark of anxiety, then I begin to think about the character that could exemplify it… Who is he?

This gripping mix of police procedural and psychological thriller is perfect for fans of Thomas Harris and C J Tudor. That she has a lair (even if it's a nice penthouse flat overlooking Shoreditch Park, rather than a gloomy cave) says something about the show's taste for comic-book stylings. The way he taps into and exposes the feelings of each character including those on the periphery is superbly done. I have two nit-picking points (but before anyone pounces on me for being super critical, these points were, in my view, worthy of mention, but not so significant as to pose any threat to a five star rating).Sex is ok but the frequent, graphic and badly written soft porn descriptions were unnecessary and unreal. This is a dark introduction, not for the faint of heart, dealing with a number of quite brutal and bloody child abductions. m. Luther takes his coat and helps him through the doors, through the main entrance, blazing bright.

The TV series was terrific and that's why I bought this but I won't be reading anything else by Neil Cross. Neil Cross does a brilliant job bringing these characters to life, and he completely honors the life that all the actors from the show brought to them as well. Even though I was popular from an American show, British audiences hadn't seen me on TV in at least 10 years," he says.I have never read a Neil Cross book before, but I have seen the brilliant television series, Luther, written by Cross and played by Idris Elba. Cross has always dealt in darkness and been so adept at conjuring bogeymen from the catacombs of mythology that you start to see them everywhere' Guardian 'This story shares the editing technique and visual power of the screen version. The story opens when one of Luther's friends on the police department gets roughed up by two thugs hired by a man who is trying to get a senior citizen to sell his home so the criminal can develop the land. At the bottom of the rucksack, rolled into a sausage, is a small polar fleece blanket with satinette edging.

These novels are dark and sinister, brimming with intelligent crimes and brilliant detectives and showcase gritty, urban streets.I am not a particularly squeamish person, but I did find myself wincing on a few occasions, and the heart rate certainly increased noticably at other parts.

Luther claims repentance for his past deeds, but was it his sins that condemned the Chapter to its secretive fate, or should warnings from history have been more closely heeded? Full of intrigue and absorbing from start to finish, Unnatural History will take you on a roller coaster ride.

On the one hand, he is deeply virtuous and applies his principles or morality to outwitting the criminal. A tall and intuitive detective follows leads, but not necessarily the rules, to obtain a just solution. Then there's Elba, who has gone from post-Wire lull to blockbuster star, with roles in Prometheus and Thor, and an upcoming stint as Nelson Mandela in Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. The ending was never in doubt - just how long it would take Luther to solve it, and how much paperwork he would have to sort out afterwards was left to your imagination. Cross for this great thriller and dedication to creating a new and exciting crime thriller series that will leave people gathered around the water cooler for weeks and months to come.
