I read the entire ADDICTIVE story over the course of ONE day, and since these aren’t my favorite themes to read about-that’s a credit to the writing! Dillon-Reams and MacKerron promise laughter, dance and wine to people on the first row (a note to my future self more than anything) and they bloody well deliver. Had I been able, Lovely Girls would have been a one sitting read for me, but nasty things from the real world, like work, interfered. Though Kate is warned off on hanging with the women, she does anyway because she misses having friends and someone to talk to.I was still on board since I love a catty neighborhood - especially one poised on the brink of chaos with a powder keg in development.

Many people will have memories of watching Ireland’s Housewife of the Year competition which began in 1968 and was televised from 1982 to 1995. In fact, once the plot starts to steamroll this one becomes more character then plot driven which I really liked. Let her peers speak (even if you have to recruit some), I think we'd learn something by listening to them.The narrator, soon established as Elliot Chase, then zooms out to address the reader directly, introducing the players—most importantly movie star Lana Farrar. So I said, 'There is more action going on in my hometown with my friends dealing with the fact that they cannot deal with turning 30 or with commitment'—all that became Beautiful Girls. I thoroughly enjoyed this most suspenseful, intriguing and entertaining story… It definitely had Big Little Lies vibes! The negative is always expressed in tight corners, such as those that women find themselves forced into on nights out to avoid the leering advances of drunk bros, or the sidelines of a greater, bigger show.
