So slightly guiltily (and belatedly), Agatha sets out to solve the case before the 25th rolls around.I read this a while ago, so I don't 100% remember everything, but I do remember how much I enjoyed listening to the story. I thought the book was extremely boring; I can’t even remember the plot (I think there was more than one murder, but I could be wrong), and a lot of serious topics (such as domestic abuse or sexual harassment) were treated way too lightly for my taste One of the main characters gets harassed at work, quits and joins the main character’s detective agency, gets abused at home by a drunk brother and ignored by her alcoholic mother, and goes to live with the main character. The murder at the manor soon felt like a subplot to the story of Toni, Agatha’s new recruit for the detective agency. Agatha is a romantic at heart and longs for a traditional English country Christmas with all her friends. The Christmas thing is terribly forced - the main plot of the book has literally nothing to do with Christmas. The first season was Miss Marple-esque with a strong lead and support characters, with quirky locals.Like a lot of mystery series, you don't necessarily need to read the previous books to understand what's going on. Her books feel more domestic and cozy, yet she touches on tough topics without caring to deal with them. When a wealthy widow hires Agatha because she’s convinced a member of her family is trying to kill her, Agatha is intrigued---especially when the widow drops dead after high tea at the manor house.
