About this deal

I thought the illustrations were very well done, but I just couldn't see Bonehead as being a liar as the other characters saw him. The Pirates Next Door won the Waterstones Prize in 2012 and was shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize.

Maps show off the dinosaur’s world and where its fossils have been found, while other features highlight its diet and size. Younger children will enjoy having this read to them, while the language used is more suitable for older children to read alone. When the actual Gigantosaurus does show up, Bonehead is nearly killed and the other dinos don't seem all too concerned about him based on his supposed lies. One of the dinosaurs decides to be look out while they are playing and starts testing the others by yelling they see the Gigantosaurus every other minute only to say they were kidding. rex relied on strength and a powerful bite in a strike that crushed the bones of the hadrosaurs and ceratopsians it preyed on.The included little baby Ankylosaurus plush toy measures approx 10cm tall at it longest length and approx 16cm long from it's outstretched hands to the end of it's tail and so it's not a very big plush toy but it is cute and also resembles the star of the book (Bonehead) very well.

This story has adorable illustrations and a good lesson, and is likely to appeal to many dinosaur lovers.

And of course, there's the opportunity to talk about when joking goes to far and why you should be trustworthy in what you say. If you read my review all the way to the end, you can check out an alternate ending to this book that I just thought of: Instead of Bonehead getting "eaten", his friends get taken by the Gigantosaurus because they didn't believe him to run away.

Krokk and Gucklock, two giganotosaurus, and their henchmen are the main villains of The Forest of Evil. Readers will learn about the exciting adventures of a young Gigantosaurus as he grows from a youth into an adult. As a grown-up, it is enjoyable to read, there's a nice rhythm to the story and it's got enough humour and points of interaction to keep it intersting for the reader as well as the audience.Graphic Dinosaurs: Giganotosaurus takes the form of a comic, telling stories of the perilous lives of these giant lizards with vivid, full-colour illustrations.

Since then he has written even stranger tales including The Pirates of Scurvy Sands, The Pirates Next Door, Gigantosaurus and The King of Space. When reviewing picture books, I firstly ignore the text and flip through the pages allowing the illustrations to talk to me.

Having a small boy (our very own Gruffalo’s Child), my husband and I can confidently recite the book from cover to cover (as can our son, an avid reader who has already loved several copies to death). This high-interest series explores the lives of world-famous dinosaurs, from diets to defenses, and examines what drove these great beasts to extinction. It was therefore a wonderful surprise to come across something as good as The Gruffalo but with Dinosaurs: Gigantosaurus by Jonny Duddle (what a fabulous name for a children’s author! Book was listed as 'very good' condition, but when it arrived the cover had stains, creases and folds, and a small tear on one edge.
