I love these concertina sketchbooks in their protective covers and always take one on days out or holidays. Good quality I looked at reviews of this sketch book somewhere else online and it hasn’t disappointed.

Just the thing for quick sketches when travelling I used it frequently and found it most useful for recording panoramic views. Remember sketchbooks can be a place to learn what you like to do when you make art so trials, tests and mistakes are welcome here.I carry mine everwhere it is my companion, because of the quality of paper and the sturdy case it can be used for painting too and I tend to collage in it. Some of the most beautiful sketchbooks I’ve seen appear slightly chaotic but they are bursting with energy and personality.

If I get too tight, too quick I can flatten all the energy in the pages and the sketchbook can become lifeless. It makes me think that layering alcohol-based and watercolour markers may lead to the same effect but I haven't tried it yet. The concertina design makes it easy to show off your work when it's done by simply opening out the pages along a table or shelf. Then I choose two or three colours of acrylic paint or ink and loosely mix and scribble paint over the pages. I was enchanted by the way in which it can be used to extend artistic stories and can be viewed and used from any which direction.

I like the idea that it's almost secretive it would make an interesting personal art journal or an altered book piece. This concertina sketch pad comes in a hard carrying case to keep it's contents and designs safe inside. I prefer to focus on the feeling of the landscape (calm or stormy for example) instead of trying to get accurate proportions or angles. Made by hand in Northern India by local artisans these unique sketchbooks contain individually produced 100% recycled cotton rag paper sheets with a natural deckled edge.
