About this deal

Our Mao Feng Green Tea has been sourced from an old tea garden with its leaves harvested in April at an altitude of 600mm above sea level. Green tea contains catechins that help fight free radicals and reduce oxidative stress that damages body’s cells. Damaged cells may be a cause of many health problems. Camellia sinesis plant is the only plant in the world with very high levels of EGCg. This catechin is the most abundant in green tea. 2. Anti inflammatory activity Mao Feng is a tea with a character and a recognizable flavor. To make the best cup of mao feng tea, use about 3 grams of tea leaves per cup of water. Always use fresh spring water. Bring water to a boil. Water temperature for brewing mao feng tea should be around 167°F -176°F. Preheat the teapot before brewing the tea by pouring hot water in and out of the teapot. Steep the leaves for about 1 minutes. Re-steep. Mao feng has a refreshing and strong flavor with light floral notes. To enjoy all flavor notes, choose loose leaf rather than mao feng tea bags. Drink the tea right after brewing. Alternatively, to get a stronger flavor steep longer, like you would brew other green teas. The long green leaves of Huang Shan Mao Feng tea produce a pale liquor with a light floral aroma. A brilliantly clean and refreshing tea, it is also smooth and balanced. It is mild with no astringency and it has a light, mouth-watering aftertaste. The profile is vegetal and a little grassy, with a savoury undercurrent. The taste further develops with sweeter notes and light flavours of fruits, such as apricots and peaches.

The leaves produce a deep coloured brew, with a smooth, almost creamy texture and a light, sweet flavour. Whittard likens the flavour to gently steamed peas topped with melted butter and suggests pairing a cup with a robust cheese such as Camembert. EGCg and caffeine may help with weight loss [7] by reducing calorie intake, increasing fat burn, and preventing the formation of new fat cells [8]. However, it’s important to know that green tea may offer the best benefits only when combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise. 6. Promoting hair growthStudies showed that green tea may have an anti-wrinkle effect and help repair damaged caused by the sun [4]. But the skin benefits don’t stop here. Other studies showed that drinking green tea may help promote wound healing, reduce sebum and acne vulgaris [5]. 4. Regulating high blood pressure This green tea is best brewed at 80°C for 2-3 minutes according to your taste and can be brewed more than 3 times, increasing steeping time with each next brew if desired. This method produces a light and mild liquor. It is also possible to brew for longer or use larger proportion of leaves to water for a stronger flavour. 5g to 250ml of water, at 80°C for 1 minute for a lighter flavour and 2 minutes for a stronger flavour.

Green tea can be bought loose-leaf, in tea bags or as a powder. Across these different varieties, it can come in many flavours and be processed differently depending on where it was grown or manufactured. One common powdered form you might already be familiar with is matcha – which is shade-grown and made using specific parts of the tea plant before being ground into its powdered form using mill stones.
