Our Mao Feng Green Tea has been sourced from an old tea garden with its leaves harvested in April at an altitude of 600mm above sea level. Green tea contains catechins that help fight free radicals and reduce oxidative stress that damages body’s cells. Damaged cells may be a cause of many health problems. Camellia sinesis plant is the only plant in the world with very high levels of EGCg. This catechin is the most abundant in green tea. 2. Anti inflammatory activity Mao Feng is a tea with a character and a recognizable flavor. To make the best cup of mao feng tea, use about 3 grams of tea leaves per cup of water. Always use fresh spring water. Bring water to a boil. Water temperature for brewing mao feng tea should be around 167°F -176°F. Preheat the teapot before brewing the tea by pouring hot water in and out of the teapot. Steep the leaves for about 1 minutes. Re-steep. Mao feng has a refreshing and strong flavor with light floral notes. To enjoy all flavor notes, choose loose leaf rather than mao feng tea bags. Drink the tea right after brewing. Alternatively, to get a stronger flavor steep longer, like you would brew other green teas. The long green leaves of Huang Shan Mao Feng tea produce a pale liquor with a light floral aroma. A brilliantly clean and refreshing tea, it is also smooth and balanced. It is mild with no astringency and it has a light, mouth-watering aftertaste. The profile is vegetal and a little grassy, with a savoury undercurrent. The taste further develops with sweeter notes and light flavours of fruits, such as apricots and peaches.
The leaves produce a deep coloured brew, with a smooth, almost creamy texture and a light, sweet flavour. Whittard likens the flavour to gently steamed peas topped with melted butter and suggests pairing a cup with a robust cheese such as Camembert.
