About this deal

I admit I was nervous for her and hoping they would fit her and as I did up the tapes I realised that it fit her perfectly which was good and she begrudgingly admitted that she was comfortable. The differences you can see are that the Pampers (on the left) has a slightly bigger absorbent pad than the Asda Little Angels (in the middle).

I have an autistic son who is 3yrs old, wearing size 7 pampers but these are too small and he is developmentally behind therefore is not ready for potty training yet. Once your child is potty trained and you are confident they will tell you when they need a poo you can stop using swim nappies. The award-winning Happy Nappy is recommended and insisted upon by swim schools for swimming lessons worldwide and for good reason we have not had a reported leak in the Happy Nappy for over 6 Years! This nappy is the ultimate protection, the pad is thicker than anything we have discussed so far, and the back sheet is made from plastic like nappies used to be 10+ years ago. No, regular disposable nappies are designed to soak up liquid so can become bulky and uncomfortable very quickly if submerged in a swimming pool. The nappy has been approved by swim schools as a double nappy system, so (in most cases) you won't run into the issue of your pool/instructor asking you to put a disposable on underneath the nappy: great for you and the environment. The Asda and Pampers nappies are roughly the same size, the MoliCare is both longer and wider, meaning that it will comfortably fit a larger child. Available in kids sizes up 9 Years and Adults from x-small size to x-large, they work in the same way as the toddler jammers with a snug fitting waist rib and silicone seal on the thighs to keep in all solid leaks.

Remove the soiled liner from the Nappy Wrap, if using, and dispose of in the bin (Splash About Nappy Liners are fully biodegradeable). The next step might be to use Brolly Sheets absorbent washable bed sheets or Kylie absorbent washable bed sheets.

Most reusable swim nappies are designed to be worn on their own and, provided they are fitted correctly, they should be sufficient to keep any accidents contained while you get your child out of the water and to the toilet / baby changing facility. Many first time users are not aware of this and are alarmed when urine leaks from the nappy on the way to the pool! Although disposable swim nappies have leak guards around the legs, these are very limited in preventing faeces from entering the pool.

It feels good for him, and I like the comfort of knowing that if there is an accident, we're not putting anything nasty into the water. There's no right and wrong, the nappy you choose for your swimming adventures is down to you and your lifestyle. As mentioned earlier in the article you can use the bed wetting pants that are available in the supermarkets if your child agrees. For other parents reading this, nappies with tapes tend to offer better protection than pull-ups but they can be very unpopular with some children for obvious reasons, so we have another option, the MoliCare Mobile XS pull-up. The biggest complaint seems to be that the "easy tear" side seams aren't so easy after all, which can be frustrating when you're trying to rip them off whilst wet and cold in a changing room.

The material feels lovely with the inner nappy (which touches baby's skin) made entirely of cotton making these a great choice if your little one has sensitive skin or is prone to nappy rash, especially if they spend a lot of time in the water. The shape of the legs gives it a better fit against your child, again minimising leaks but more importantly it will be more comfortable to wear.If your child has a bowel movement then change them immediately in the baby change facilities, not at the side of the pool. Special absorbent material that doesn't swell or fall apart in water so the swim nappies won't weigh down your little swimmers. Not only do they look adorable, but there is no need to use a disposable nappy underneath and there are lots of fun prints available. I'd assume if there was a poop encased within it you'd have to pull the elastic around babies legs and try and pull it down without spilling any of the contents which could be tricky! Most reusable swim nappies can be worn on their own, however, for extra protection you may want to combine with a disposable swim nappy, a Nappy Wrap, and/or liner.
