Elvis continues to be a great protagonist, with so much understated humor, compassion, and integrity. Crais gives his readers a lovely surprise when Lucy Chenier and her son Ben arrive for a visit, but we're left wondering if they'll be back to create the family that Elvis desperately wants and needs.Written with the heart, humor, and relentless suspense for which Crais is famous, Racing the Light delivers Elvis Cole's most dangerous case yet. Big Island, LA connects the dots between a heist gone wrong at a police shooting range and corporate greed and political corruption, leaving a former combat marine and an agoraphobic crime reporter to sort out the mystery. He soon discovers there’s more to this case than a missing geek and his model friend and it’s got very little to do with UFOs. If there’s a better dynamic duo than Elvis Cole and Joe Pike in all of crime fiction, I’m not aware of it. For Tinsel Munroe, hosting a late night radio show in Melbourne isn’t just a stepping stone toward a more successful career but something of a labour of love.
