We find it curious that Corsair bundles three 8-pin CPU cables for this 850W model. Very few boards demand this level of power - AMD Ryzen Threadripper, mostly - so it's more of a keeping-the-bases covered kind of move than of current practical value. It actually makes more sense on the 1,000W model, which also has a trio of CPU plugs.The RMx line has a deserved reputation for premium ripple suppression. For this reason, Corsair adds cable-integrated capacitors to the main ATX, CPU and PCIe cables. Since this is an older unit, don’t expect to find 12VHPWR connectors, but I am sure Corsair will soon update its RMx line offering the new PCIe connectors. The three EPS connectors make this PSU suitable for potent mainboard-processor combinations, and the four PCIe connectors are enough for a powerful gaming system. A more aggressive fan speed profile drives the magnetic bearing fan that the new model has, but still, the PSU’s noise won’t trouble you under normal conditions unless you are super sensitive. The Corsair RM850x is a computer adapter with a total power output of 850 W. It features a single fan with a diameter of 135 mm to ensure efficient cooling. The adapter is equipped with multiple power outputs for different components. Corsair continues teaming up with Channel Well Technology (CWT) to produce platforms based on its desired specifications. I prefer the ML fan over the FDB one since it is more reliable, especially at high operating temperatures. The combined power for the +3.3V is 150 W, while the +12V has a combined power output of 850 W. The +5V also has a combined power of 150 W. The combined power for the -12V is 9.6 W, and the +5Vsb has a combined power of 15 W.
