Well, there isn’t an exact time set for your pup to stop using pee pads. It depends on when he can learn where to do his business without the pad. Start his pad training inside the house until he gets used to doing it outside. There are several common mistakes in potty training your pup that will help him learn faster and make it easier for you to train him. These mistakes include:

Toilet training when your puppy is by themselves 

Give the command “enough, thank you” and then redirect them to one of their favourite puppy toys or play a game with them. I keep doing this consistently until the dog has understood. Try placing food dishes outside and seeing if he sniffs around the area if he still needs to go out. There is no need to wash or dry the potty pad after each use as long as it is placed on the floor and not on the furniture or carpet.

Most puppy training pads have enough powder to absorb between 3 and 5 cups of water. This is significantly more than most puppies pee in a day. While different veterinary sources provide slightly different standards, the expected daily urine output for a dog is typically between 0.4 and 0.85 ounces per pound. This means a 10-pound puppy may pee a little more than a cup a day at most.
