Until the beginning of senior year, one night at a party. When lines are blurred and eventually crossed. It was the best night of my life. A night I will never forget. Or regret. It’s all I can think about. He’s all I can think about. Their relationship is also so well developed! Considering that it’s a second chance romance makes it even better! They had chemistry and love for one another from the get go and how their relationship developed in the past was also so endearing and not weird or overboard! It was just so cute and it made sense!! It just made me enjoy the book even more.

This is Sylvie and Spencer’s story, we see the product of heartbreak and trauma, and how this effects both characters. There is a lot of wrongs that need to be made right and trust that needs rebuilding. I feel like Monica did a great job of having us feel for Sylvie and redeeming her. She is not a perfect person, she is flawed she is broken… but she is her and doing the best she can. Just like all of us are at the end of the day. He’s always been off limits because I know a relationship with him could never work. Like, ever. He’s too perfect, too sweet, too good looking. Taking what we have a step further has the potential to ruin everything, and his friendship is too important to me. From start to finish you are hanging onto every single word. the heroine was just too much.... I really understand that she had a traumatic childhood but man u don't need to treat the people u love like that 🤡 Couldn't connect with her and I don't understand why she handled things like she did I absolutely LOVE this book. I love Syl & Spence. They were EVERYTHING! True Soulmates, from the moment they met. Their love ran deep! And their chemistry - HOT🔥🔥🔥!!! After Sylvie’s toxic mother forces her to marry a man 50 years older than her and leave behind the love of her life, Sylvie and Spencer don’t speak for three years, until they meet again at her brother’s wedding. It was heartbreaking to read about Sylvie’s past. And that she went through it alone, no one really taking her seriously. Though Spencer didn’t fully know everything, he was always there for her, until he wasn’t. She believes she’s the reason. That she ruined everything between them. He blames her, too. But her actions were draped in so much trauma & abuse. So young, and so broken. This is my first time reading this author and this book definitely didn’t disappoint. I read this entire book in one sitting. I definitely added her books to my tbr list. This book had me at brother’s best friend. I will definitely be adding Spencer to my book boyfriend list.

Maybe it's because I haven't read the rest of Lancaster Prep, or really a MM book in quite some time, but this was just flat. I didn't hate it, but I didn't really like it either. This heartbreaking love story will steal every ounce of your attention from the opening sentences, it’s impossible to stop reading! Her beautifully written words paint a picture of a tumultuous life led by a heroine who never had a chance to live her life freely. It was always dictated to her, expectations had to be met and an image cultivated. As the story progresses, you can see her move away from those who control her and get a little closer to the life she wants, dreamed of and only chooses. It’s a moving story of personal growth, chasing dreams and regaining lost love.Monica is really started this one off with a bang. This story has this rich aristocratic feel throughout it. It’s filled with darker tones, and top notch angst. It’s definitely different then anything else in the Lancaster world we have seen so far, and I was loving it.
