The combination of 8GB of RAM and the Tensor chip saw the Pixel 6 achieve an average Geekbench 5 score of 2837 – which is just above the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 at 2801, and below the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus at 3034. Note that the Pixel 6 Pro didn’t score particularly higher at 2895, suggesting the Tensor chipset may not hit the performance levels of Snapdragon 888-powered phones.

Its curved edges ensure the phone sits comfortably in your hand, although some may find it a touch slippery to hold – we found that a case mitigated that issue. Face Unblur can remove the blur from a face in motion if the camera can recognize the face and it isn't too blurred . Again, it can't work miracles. The Pixel 6 Pro is a relatively affordable phone compared to other top-end handsets, but it’s still one of the more expensive smartphones you can buy. You may want to look elsewhere if your budget is tighter.

The 50MP main shooter, which has an f/1.9 aperture and 1.2µm pixels is the camera you’ll likely be using the most. We found it was able to take high-res photos with good detail and true-to-life colors. We can at least be relieved that Google likely won’t repeat the mistake of hobbling its new phones with inadequate battery life. The Google Pixel 6 has a 4,614mAh capacity, up from the 4,080mAh of 2020’s Pixel 5, and far above the measly 2,800mAh in the Pixel 4.

At such a reasonable price and with such a tempting array of features, Google has a winner on its hands. Aside from the “love it or hate it” design, the only real fly in the ointment is the Pixel 6’s battery life, which comes in well under its competitors. But it’s hardly a deal-breaker at just under 20 hours. How about that Magic Eraser tool? In a word, it’s magic. If a stranger, overhead cable or lamppost is photobombing what would otherwise be an Insta-worthy picture, all you’ve got to do is edit the image, select Magic Eraser in the Tools section and draw an outline with your finger around what you want removed. The Pixel 6 then takes care of the rest in a couple of seconds. The front of the phone houses an 8MP, fixed-focus sensor with an 84-degree field of view. Its large 1.12μm pixel pitch and wide f/2.0 aperture yield excellent results in any lighting condition. It's difficult to tell much difference between it and the 11.1MP camera on the more expensive Pixel 6 Pro. Our test photos look crisp, with excellent color accuracy and a natural depth of field. Portrait mode worked flawlessly as well. The selfie camera is on par with the 11.1MP lens on the more expensive Pro model The handset is large, so you may want to opt for the standard Google Pixel 6 if you’re looking for a smaller device. It features a glass rear that’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus technology, which should ensure it’s not easily scratched. There’s fast-charging here, although it’s not as fast as you’ll get with some other Android phones. It tops out at 30W, with the phone able to charge from zero to 50% in around 30 minutes. In our testing, we found a 30W charger was able to take the phone from zero to 20% in 15 minutes, and to 40% in 30 minutes.Buy the Google Pixel 6 256 GB 8 GB, which not just has pleasant looks but is also equipped with striking features. We’ve yet to see it deliver any significant improvements over phones that use more traditional chipsets, but it’s still easily powerful enough to boot up your favorite apps and games, and that’s what really matters.
