About this deal

Open your phone or tablet's settings and scroll down the settings list until you locate the Neos SmartHome app.

If you can stretch your budget a little further, the Xiaomi Poco F4 is a better all-rounder, in spite of its slightly shorter battery life. Otherwise, save yourself a few quid and go for the cheaper OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G, which outclasses the Neo in pretty much every way. As is ever the case, given that it is a phone from Motorola, the Neo comes running the ‘Moto Experience’. This is the manufacturer’s attempt to give the base Android experience a little favour and improve its usability in many situations.

More than the sum of its parts

However, the Night mode is effective. This can be used in all four fields of view with the rear cameras, and the selfie camera. Comparing shots like for like with the similarly priced Motorola Edge and OnePlus 8, there wasn’t a clear winner. The OnePlus 8 (which uses the same main sensor as the Oppo) seems to have a bit of an edge when it comes to general colour balance and detail. On an overcast day, the Find X2 Neo would tend to introduce a smidgen more noise to the grey-white skies. Looking for the best instant camera? You may be surprised to learn that you’ve never had more choice. The question then, as it has ever been, is: does a smaller form factor do enough to distinguish the Neo, both from more premium members of the same device line and the competition? Design and screen The 6.55in FHD+ AMOLED display has a resolution of 2400 x 1080p, a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz and a peak brightness of 1100 nits. So although you don’t get the top specs possible, they’re definitely up there. Clear and bright with vivid colours, the Oppo Find X3 Neo 5G has a screen that makes everything feel smooth and look lovely, whether that’s streaming video, playing games or browsing the web. There’s also HDR10+ support which means that you’ll get the best experience possible from the likes of Netflix, with tonnes of detail and accurate colours.

General performance is perfectly solid too, but the Motorola Edge 30 Neo’s processor is not great considering the phone’s price. It uses the Snapdragon 695. It has 5G, sure, its CPU-side performance is entirely acceptable, but unlike the higher-end Qualcomm models the gaming performance here is not all that hot.I also found a fair bit of overexposure in images, suggesting the dynamic range enhancement isn’t as smart as it could be. Considering the Snapdragon 695 processor has already been identified as a weak spot of the Motorola Edge 30 Neo, could it be to blame here too? Quite possibly. I have no other complaints about the Oppo Find X3 Neo’s outer hardware. The combination of the curve of the front screen and aluminium sides feels lovely – a clear cut above the OnePlus 9. Its 72.5mm width shouldn’t be a stretch for most hands accustomed to today’s sizeable devices, and the in-screen fingerprint scanner is fast. In the times when we weren't using the Neo at all, the battery drained very slowly indeed: this is a good phone for lasting a long time in standby mode. Oppo itself hasn't offered an estimate of the average battery life you can get from this phone, but we don't think you're going to have any worries on this front.

If you’re looking for something with a little more style, Fujifilm has recently released the Instax Mini 40. This is essentially the same camera as the Mini 12 but with a vintage-inspired retro redesign. To receive notifications once relevant alerts are turned on, you will need to ensure you have toggled on the setting on your phone for the Neos SmartHome app allowing it to send/push notifications. While some software skins grate even after only a few minutes of use, the Moto skin is generally useful and never proves to get in the way, only ever working to benefit the overall experience. Battery life You can use the Record and Snapshot icons to manually record a video or take a picture from the live stream. Manually recorded videos and photos are saved in your phone’s gallery and can be viewed, sent or shared through your phone’s gallery. One area in which Oppo tends to excel is in its own proprietary recharging technology. The Oppo Find X2 Neo comes with a 30W VOOC 4.0 charger, which is a notch below the brand’s very best effort. Unlike HD/SD, 360p will impact the image quality and lower the resolution of the live stream to 480x360. All videos are also recorded in 360p, including local recording onto a microSD card. This feature is intended for users without access to high speed internet or that wish to reduce the amount of data the camera consumes. If additional users also enable the Auto-Arming functionality, the SmartHome app will not arm until the last user has left the properties’ Auto- Arming Zone and will disarm upon the first user arriving home.

Megapixels Electronic View Finder High ISO: ISO 6400 or more is available at full-resolution. Continuous Drive Ultra HD (4K) video: 3840x2160 resolution or more. Manual Controls: Both fully-manual (M) and semi-automatic modes (T and V). Custom White-Balance: Specifies exactly what should be white to the camera. Action Photography: Shutter speeds of 1/1500 or more. Night Photography: Reaches shutter-speeds longer than 4 seconds. Hotshoe: Allows external flash units to be attached. Spot Metering Depth-Of-Field Preview: Improve perception of DOF before shooting. Accepts Secure Digital Extended Capacity (SDXC), SDHC and SD memory. The end result is the identical to what I see in virtually every flagship-style handset. You certainly won’t see the two-day stamina of lower-end devices such as the Redmi Note 10 Pro, but most people will probably be satisfied. I'm only ascribing the better-than-expected battery life to the processor because the Sony Xperia 10 IV has the same brains and offers fantastic battery life using a larger 5000mAh cell. The Oppo Find X3 Neo primary camera captures lovely images at 1x, with a tendency towards a warm colour cast. The OnePlus 9 Pro’s colour accuracy is better than the Find X3 Neo much of the time, but this phone didn’t take any shots where I questioned the reasons that such colour tone decisions were made.

After 30 days, we’ll replace or repair the product as long as it’s within the terms and conditions of our warranty. All in all, the Oppo Find X2 Neo is an exemplary performer. Just know that for similar money you can step things up to true flagship level. Rounding out the camera suite is an adequate portrait mode, establishing a decent enough outline around the subject but struggling with fine hair. While rivals such as the Poco F4 offer 4K at 60fps, video capture here is limited to 1080p at 60fps and slow-mo footage at 120fps. The quality is decent enough, but the stabilisation is only compatible with the 30fps setting, and even then there was noticeable shaking. Motorola Edge 30 Neo review: Verdict Verify which type of Wifi network you are using: Neos SmartCam uses 2.4GHz. Most Wifi routers have both 2.4GHz or 5GHz. The 5GHz network usually has a default network name with ‘5G’ suffix. I don’t consider this an ultra-long-lasting phone; it will need to be charged every day. Through testing, and on busy days in particular, I haven’t tended to see a huge amount of charge left by the time I plug it in before bed.
