About this deal

The pineapple-flavoured bottling is said to have hints of coconut, caramel and lime, and a nose of pineapple, coconut, and raisin ice cream. The palate delivers pineapple, caramel and cinnamon, followed by a finish of fruits and spiced oak. It is suggested to be consumed neat, over ice, or mixed with cranberry juice. First, fill your shaker about three-fourths full of ice cubes. Then pour in your banana rum, fruit juices and grenadine. Combining a flavourful core of aged rum from Barbados with hibiscus, orange blossom, and honeybush, Suncamino boasts layers of silky sweet caramel and floral fruits – plus the distinct character of the honeybush make this a unique little treat. On the nose: the rum is sweet and fruity, bold banana flavours (foam banana sweets, warm banana bread topped with brown sugar), lots of sweets flavours (chocolate limes, cola cubes, candy floss), subtle cinnamon and vanilla.

To celebrate its return this month, the banana flavoured rum is proving once more that you don’t need to make the 10,000-mile round-trip to Jamaica to enjoy the spirit of the Caribbean, with Camusdarach beach in Scotland an unexpected setting for its tropical launch. Barbara Turing, innovation manager at Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “The rum boom continues to grow and is showing no signs of slowing down. Consumers are increasingly seeing rum as a category in which they can find exciting and sophisticated drinking experiences, so we felt this is the right time to revive a brand that fits perfectly with these trends.

While the rum matures in oak barrels, natural tannins in the wood impart a golden tint that yields to a rich brown cast after several years.Langs Banana Rum was first released in the late 1800s, and at some point between then and now it disappeared from shelves. This is not where the story ends, however, as that would be incredibly anti-climactic. So, in 2020, Langs Banana Rum returned! Built around a base of aged and unaged Jamaican rum, produced in pot and column stills, and infused with natural fruit flavours, this is an enjoyably bright and funky spirit.
