About this deal

Olight and Fenix manufacture flashlights that use both disposable and rechargeable batteries. The ability to recharge the battery is an attractive prospect to those interested in reducing the long-term costs associated with running flashlights. It also ensures that you’re able to keep your light running as long as you have access to an electrical power source. Fenix has released a Pro version of the rechargeable PD36R flashlight. It uses USB-C for charging, and has fantastic output, too! Read on! Even though you need to bring your own charger (not a problem for most people, I imagine), charging the battery is very easy. You will notice that charging a 21700 battery will take a little longer because of its huge capacity. It may take between three or four hours for a fully depleted battery to be recharged. When the indicator light turns green again, the battery is fully charged. The normal charging time of the includedFenix ARB-L21-5000 V2.0 rechargeable Li-ion batteryis approximately 3 hours from depletion to full charging. Dacă lumina nu va fi utilizată pentru o perioadă îndelungată, scoate-ți bateriile, sau lanterna ar putea deteriorată de scurgeri de electroliți sau explozii de baterie.

For my heat and runtime, I tested with the supplied Fenix 5000mAh battery, on my Texas Ace Lumen tube. Turbo starts out here a the claimed lumens but by 1 minute it’s stepped down to about 750 lumens because the heat was up to about 43C. It increases the output some in the next 20 minutes as heat dissipates, but the light has a substantial drop at about 2:10:00, then again at 3:20:00, and once more at 4:30:00, where it runs at it’s the lowest output for many more hours. Total runtime was right around 8 hours, and the light does flash in the last hour of use to indicate it’s the battery is low. Solution: Replace or recharge the battery (Ensure the battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).

First impressions

Today I am taking a look at the new Fenix PD36R Pro. It’s an update on the previous light and includes a substantial increase in runtime. The light may look and sound familiar though because I took a look at the TK20R V2 earlier this year and it shares a lot of similarities with the new PD36R Pro. Thanks to Thrunite for sending this to me to review. The light uses an integral 7.2-V 12,000-mAh Li-ion. While this provides twice the milliamp hours as the X9R Marauder, it’s also not replaceable in the event of failure. However, the LR80R also has both USB-C and USB ports, the latter allowing you to use the discharge function to power external devices. Fenix tested run times at each output level are achieved by switching the light on and letting it run uninterrupted until the battery is drained as per the ANSI standard. Here are a number of runtime graphs. There are big step-downs on Turbo, but the light does practically hit the specification (over 2800 lumens at startup, specifically). For a few seconds after activation, the indicating LED just below the charging port indicates an approximation of the current cell capacity, as follows: When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Eco output is reached. When this happens in Eco output mode, the light blinks 3 times every 5 minutes toremind youto timely recharge or replace the battery.

I believe the cellhas protection, because after a number of these tests, the voltage read at 0V. I’m not sure if this is a “protection tripped” 0V or an actual discharge to 0V. I think it’s likely cell protection. Charging Better anti-interference performance: the APF system combats signal interference, but it doesn't work if it is applied to a magnetic switch. Therefore, the PD36 PRO will be less prone to interference based on the use of a mechanical switch. When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until the Eco mode is reached. The X9R Marauder is Olight’s brightest and most powerful flashlight. By using six Cree XHP70.2 LED lights, the X9R is capable of producing 25,000 lumens and 99,200 candelas. While it exceeds the light output of the Fenix by 7,000, its beam intensity is approximately one third that of the LR80R. This results in more flood and a less well-defined hotspot. When using the included battery, if the battery voltage drops below 3 V the torch is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until eco output is reached, at which point the battery indicator will flash red to remind you to charge the battery. All output numbers are relative for my homemade integrated Sphere, set up with a Hagner E4-X Lux Meter for measurements. For extremely bright flashlights (above 5000 lumens) I am adding a Kenko PRO1D ND-16 filter. The base measurement is done with a Convoy S2+ that has been tested at 137 lumens. Q8. Why does the PD36R PRO downshift to a lower mode after being used for a while and the higher mode cannot be selected? Five brightness levels, plus strobe mode are available and operated with the tactical tail switch and side functional switch. The PD36R is turned on and off with the tactical tail switch by fully pressing it down, and it also offers a momentary function by half pressing the button (the light will turn off when the button is released). Once the torch is on, the side switch will cycle through turbo, eco, low, mid, high with each press. The PD36R Pro is a flashlight with no unnecessary fuss, as far as options are concerned, but the controls are really easy to use: it is almost impossible to make a mistake, which I think is worth a lot given its target audience. This is what I love about the PD36R Pro

At 3.27 inches in length, the PL-Pro Valkyrie is the same length as the barrels of some subcompact handguns, so the housing may not be flush with the slide of your CCW (concealed-carry weapon). This may interfere with your choice of holster and exposes the light to the muzzle blast. The PL-Pro weighs 3.25 ounces, which is relatively light compared with other comparable products on the market. Lanternele Fenix trebuiesc alimentate doar cu baterii sau acumulatori Fenix sau alte branduri de calitate superioară (ex: Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, Sanyo). Higher output: the APF system has made higher lumens from a forward switch possible, it breaks the limitation of current. There’s only one version of this light. Custom Shop finishes by Fenix are available for this model, however. Price A:It is recommended to use a Fenix ARB-L21-5000 V2.0 battery. Other Li-ion batteries are not recommended. As an unmatched battery may cause the flashlight to fail to work normally. A: Because the PD36R PRO is extremely compact, its heat dissipation area is limited. When the light reaches a temperature of a certain level, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature due to the limitation of heat dissipation capacity, resulting in the accumulated runtime of the Turbo mode not much different from the runtime of the High mode. (For specific runtime performance, refer to the runtime graph in the manual)
