About this deal

Raworth explains her donut theory as a means to living. The world needs to work to keep the doughnut balanced. Everyone needs their individual essentials in life, like: food, healthcare, freedom, etc. Then there are things that the world needs together, like a stable environment. These work together to create a donut. The concept is strong and interesting, but not easy to explain in a short review. This book is masterfully written to help everyone understand economics through something they all love: doughnuts. Today, with the world in apparent economic turmoil, it seems more important than ever to learn something about economics. Far from occupying a separate section of our newspaper or making up a small part of the television news, economic news now regularly makes the headlines. As early as 1997, the US Republican political campaign strategist Robert Teeter noted its dominance, saying, “Look at the declining television coverage [of politics]. Look at the declining voting rate. Economics and economic news is what moves the country now, not politics.”

As with all Dorling Kindersley books this is generously illustrated, with bold graphics of headings, alongside accompanying pictures, plus diagrams and infographics in the chapters themselves. I found this heartening. Just when I was starting to get brain ache, there would be a nice visual place to rest. The book is also quite large, a cross between coffee table size and regular textbook. It has reasonably large text too. All this makes reading it a lot more enjoyable.

Michelle Lodge knows how to find the best of its kind in the book world. She has been published in Publishers Weekly and was an editor and writer for Library Journal, both of which cover books and the industry. While a book review editor at Library Journal, which recommends books for public library collections, she selected a number of top books on economics for review. She was also the editor of the On Wall Street Book Club, in which she reviewed books and interviewed authors on a podcast. Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt is a short and simple Economics book. In this book, Hazlitt covers the essential lessons in economic theory. This book offers a glimpse into the economy, as well as a glimpse into the minds of politicians. Using easy-to-follow graphics and artworks, succinct quotations, and thoroughly accessible text, The Economics Book makes abstract concepts of money and trade concrete.

The Economics Book | DK Learning

As a beginner in Economics, this book wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. It was kind of disorganized and didn't explain some concepts very well (they weren't as "simply explained" as the title claims). By following an innovative visual approach, The Economics Book demystifies and untangles complicated theories. Make sense of abstract concepts through colorful graphics, fun facts, and step-by-step flow diagrams. It's like a collection of 100+ encyclopedia articles on myriad economic subjects, plus a handful of lengthier essays. Few people would claim to know very much about economics, perhaps seeing it as a complex and esoteric subject with little relevance to their everyday lives.Intro to Modern Economic Growth Daron Acemoglu is a more advanced book that explores economics, and how they are constantly growing. The book helps readers identify tools to analyze the growth of economics. He discusses the mathematical basics of economics, and how they affect modern growth theory. Acemoglu includes many examples and experiences about economics in this text. It is a difficult read, but advanced economists will benefit from it. Niall Kishtainy was a tutor of mine at the LSE and his tutorials were always enjoyable, informative, and challenging. This book has those same qualities. In Economics and the Left: Interviews with Progressive Economists, editor C.J. Polychroniou presents 24 economists “whose lifework has been dedicated to both interpreting the world and changing it for the better,” in their own words and on various topics. These include their home countries, modern monetary theory (MMT), Marxian and Keynesian perspectives, how their upbringing and parents helped to form their economic views, and the impact of COVID-19.

By following an innovative visual approach, The Economics Book demystifies and untangles complicated theories. Make sense of abstract concepts through colourful graphics, fun facts, and step-by-step flow diagrams. The Economics Book looks at different economic theories and economists, with a bit of world history thrown in. The Economics Book ( Big Ideas Simply Explained) By DK, Niall Kishtainy, George Abbot, John Farndon, Frank Kennedy, James Meadway, Christopher Wallace, Marcus Weeks (z Lib.org) Economics Today: The Macro View by Roger Leroy Miller is yet another great textbook for undergraduate economics classes. It provides a modern understanding of economics. It specifically discusses how economics affects the world today. Miller explains how to look at economics through a large point of view. Everything is affected by economics. It creates a chain reaction. The price of one thing affects another. Economics cannot be viewed through a micro lense. Richard H. Thaler’s “Misbehaving: The Making of Behavioral Economics” turns classic economic theory on its head. It denounces the idea that much of economic theory is based on: the behavior of rational actors. According to Thaler, humans are inherently flawed and easily succumb to bias and emotional decision making. This sets a ripple effect on the economy into motion. Thaler schools readers on how to avoid these emotional pitfalls and make smarter decisions using this theory.

I must admit that I read this book all wrong. It’s supposed to be a reference book. A bit of a primer to bring you up to speed on any area of economic theory before you take a deeper dive. I didn’t use it like that at all, I read it from cover to cover in a mad burst. So, if I’m using the book incorrectly, I can hardly complain if it doesn’t work as well as it should. Economics clearly have a huge impact on our world. They had an impact on our past, they have an impact on our present, and they will have an impact on our future. Money, as meaningless as it seems, controls our world. Until that changes, economics will be one of the most important subjects in the world. These books will continue to update and change with the world’s economics.

1. The Economics Book ( Big Ideas Simply Explained) By DK

More advanced readers will be turned away by its simple explanations and examples, but new economists and readers will love it. The chapters are short. They are centered around big ideas. This book has a fairly modern take on both economics and history. Many important economists of the past are included in this book. This helps readers understand big ideas, and important events. Musím povedať, že prečítať túto knihu mi trvalo dlhšie. Najmä preto, že ja a ekonómia nejdeme dokopy.
