About this deal

Atlantic Recording Corporation for the United States and WEA International Inc. for the world outside of the United States. I tend to wax and wane on The Corrs. Sometimes the music just seems too middle of the road to me. Too bland and insipid and too many songs about love. But then I’ll listen to an album again, like I just have now, and think differently. The use of the fiddle gives the songs a beautiful Celtic lilt, and there is no doubt that this Irish family sing and harmonise wonderfully.

In mainstream music, the wrong releases often snag all of the misplaced commercial credit. The Corrs are a perfect example of this: Talk on Corners really launched them onto the production map and made the public aware of their brand of catchy melodies, rousing instrumentals and Celtic twists. Within all of the hype and uproar, Forgiven Not Forgotten, The Corrs' magnificent debut, lay as an untouched relic; whether the album was forgiven remains ambiguous, but forgotten it most certainly was. While The Corrs can hardly be blamed for creating such a brilliant initial album, it remains somewhat frustrating that it is their followup that is remembered. In the mid-90s, the County Louth-based folk quartet The Corrs – comprised of siblings Andrea, Sharon, Caroline and Jim Corr – emerged from Ireland ready to cast their musical spell across the globe. With their first album, Forgiven, Not Forgotten, the group had already proven themselves as ones to watch, largely thanks to the single Runaway, which went Top 10 in their homeland, Top 50 in the UK and charted at No.68 in the US. However, it was their second album that would truly establish The Corrs’ rising status as folk-pop superstars. Stepping into the limelight with the finesse that only seasoned professionals can bring, The Corrs unveiled Talk On Corners, a sleekly-arranged labour of love that not only exceeded expectations but also elevated the band to unprecedented heights. The Corrs released their second album, “Talk on Corners” in Ireland in late 1997, following it up with a US release in April 1998. The album title comes from a line in the song, “Queen of Hollywood”, and kinda catches you by surprise when you hear it – “oh there’s the album title”…well it did us anyway.

Only When I Sleep" replaced "When He's Not Around" as the opening song in December 1998 which included a drum solo from the Lough Erin Shore intro.
