xpad and xboxdrv are not the same thing, they are two different approaches. It seems at the moment that xboxdrv works best, but is not quite up to date on Ubuntu. It's pricey for it, but it is great for colour-matching to your setup. Everything about this controller screams luxury. It's lovely in-hand, plays great, and it comes with all the extra bits you could ask for. It's not cheap, however.
