About this deal

As for the autofocus, the 56mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary uses a stepping motor to provides fast and near silent focusing. I tried the focusing in a variety of conditions, and overall, I found the autofocus to be drama free. It is also very accurate, which is particularly important considering this lens produces a shallow depth of field with its f1.4 aperture. The Fujifilm X Series system is quite popular because of several reasons with one being there is a great selection of lenses to support the cameras. These lenses aren’t just made by Fujifilm but also from other manufacturers as well. For instance, Sigma has recently started producing lenses with X mount, and one of these is the 56mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary. I’ve tested this lens previously in other mounts, so while this review may be a bit more condense, I’ll be focusing more on how it performs with X Series cameras. The Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens for Fujifilm X-Mount cameras features a structure with 10 His expertise with equipment doesn’t end there, though. He is also an encyclopedia when it comes to all manner of cameras, camera holsters and bags, flashguns, tripods and heads, printers, papers and inks, and just about anything imaging-related. Looking ahead, Sigma has also announced that more lenses will be coming soon in X Mount. Specifically, the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary lens will be coming later this year. The tentative release window is December.

It can be tempting to go for a third-party lens because it’s cheaper. But sometimes, it’s not always the better bet. A good friend of mine recently bought the Tokina 56mm for Fujifilm. He loves it, and that’s fine. It’s super affordable and he’s getting great photos with it shooting comedy shows in NYC. He brought it with him the last time we met up. I set it to continuous autofocus, and the lens couldn’t focus at all. It only worked in single autofocus. There’s also no full weather sealing, which is fine for him. But in the long run, he might see differently. Please be sure to use your camera body in combination with your X Mount lenses from SIGMA when updating the firmware. The images of this lens are too sharp, lower in contrast, with little micro-contrast and low in vibrancy and saturation. Both colours and contrast do improve when stopping down to f2 or f2.8, but were never good enough to satisfy my wants. To me, the colours that a lens produces are incredibly important to me and I’m stunned every time I use my Fujifilm 23mm f2 lens on how much contrast that lens has and how punchy and lovely the colours are. Some of the new Voigtlander lenses also have amazing colour that I am just lusting over. They regularly make me consider adopting the Sony system as well, just so I can use that lovely Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 for instance or the unusual 50mm f3.5 or the 65mm f2! They’re such creamy and unique lenses! Face detection also works quite well with the lens. Eyes are always sharp, and with this lens mounted, the camera doesn’t have any issues finding a face even in poor lighting conditions, which is sometimes important to me, since I shoot a lot of boudoir in darker environments sometimes. I think it was fairly obvious he was talking about the Canon mirrorless mount rather than the rangefinder M mount, you either chose to ignore that or misread. Doubling down on this makes it seem like the first one was the case, dropping it would be more reasonable if it was a simple mistake IMO. The Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC DN lens for Fujifilm X-mount is constructed of ten elements in six groups, including one super low-dispersion (SLD) element and one aspherical elements. It features a nine-blade aperture diaphragm, offers a minimum focusing distance of 50cm (19.7"), has an aperture range of F1.4 through F16 and uses a 55mm front filter thread.

Well just last year Fuji released 5 lenses, 4 of which are completely new designs. The last time they released this many lenses for the X-mount was in 2015. So I personally can't interpret that as giving up on APS-C. Mylio Photos – Access your photos from anywhere, without the cloud! Easily showcase your photos on-the-go, resolve duplicates, find faces and look for those stunning locations. Do not power OFF the camera and ensure the USB cable is properly connected during the data transfer.Right now, they essentially have all grounds covered, save for the extreme telephoto range. Consequently they can now afford to open up the mount and have other manufacturers plug some (perhaps niche) gaps, while Fuji works on updating its older designs and also fills some of the last (and niche) gaps in the lineup (i.e the upcoming 150-600mm and video optimized 18-120mm) No dedicated aperture ring, which is just a personal preference, and doesn't affect the lens performance in any way at all. No OIS, but again, due to the compact size and weight of the lens your camera IBIS will take care of this. Final Thoughts

As expected, sharpness increases as the lens is stopped down a bit but I found this to be a clear winner in sharpness even at f/1.4. I found the focusing, when paired with the Fujifilm X-S10, allowed me to take full advantage of face and eye autofocus. Images had a lovely contrast with good skin tones, especially when paired with the Pro Neg Standard and Pro Neg Hi Film Simulations. I would recommend the combination as an affordable starting point to anyone starting out taking portraits. Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC DN C for Nikon Z Mount Ideal for portraiture and still life, the lens combines great sharpness with beautiful bokeh and negligible fringing (Image credit: Matthew Richards) I found the sharpness and bokeh it creates to be on par with much more expensive lenses that are also much bigger/heavier. Three of Sigma’s contemporary prime lenses were announced as becoming available for the Nikon Z mount in April 2023, following on from options available for Fujifilm, Canon, Leica L and Micro Four Thirds. Amy Davies spent some time with each of the new lenses to find out how well they paired with Nikon Z.So my initial reason for buying the 56mm was to have something a bit more telephoto for action shots. I’m sure this wasn’t Fujifilm’s targeted scenario for this lens. I get that. But I’m sure they were thinking photographers would use this lens for weddings too and other such family events or even an outdoor portrait photoshoot. And that’s exactly what I ended up using it for as well. With social distancing and all that, the 21mm is currently on a bit of a holiday. So it’s all a bit up in the air anyway. I recently photographed an event though, where I ended up using the Fujifilm 35mm 1.4 and the 16-55mm only. And that worked surprisingly well. For the first time ever, I didn’t feel naked without my 21mm! Interestingly, I had a look on Lightroom afterwards and when I was using the 16-55mm at longer focal lengths, I always naturally gravitated towards the 38-45mm range without knowing that I did. Normal type. Protector is developed to protect the lens surface from dirt and dust as well as scratches. It is an ideal filter for regular use as it is completely colorless so does not affect color reproduction. If you want an amazing Sigma portrait lens for your APS-C Sony or Canon camera, I highly recommend this one. The lens features a durable and robust construction. The rubber seal around the mount is visible in this image and helps keep dust and dirt passing between the camera and lens connection

https://www.slrumors.com/leica-panasonic-and-sigma-are-becomig-new-partners-to-build-a-new-full-frame-system-around-the-sl-mount/ These lenses are fine for me, I didn’t buy a Fuji for how it looks lol. You don’t like them, clearly, because you feel a need to post how ugly they are over and over again. And then you post how ugly they are yet again. Sony A6500, Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary, 1/250sec at f/4, ISO 400 (Lens corrections switched on)

Foskito - Folks aren't mad because of Sony in this thread--it's about the implication that Fuji was an afterthought.
