About this deal

Supplied accessories: EN-EL19 Rechargeable Li-ion Battery, EH-70P Charging AC Adapter, UC-E6 USB Cable, Camera Strap, ViewNX 2 CD, Reference Manual CD At ISO 400, the green colour noise starts to interfere with the image more and at ISO 800, it gets worse. Salt and pepper noise also starts to poke through which disrupts edge definition. It has to be noted that although this is all going on, the quality of the image is still pretty good.

Thissoftwareis for upgrading the COOLPIXS3500 firmware from v1.0 to v1.1. Verify your camera’s firmware version using the instructions below. If this latest version is already installed in your camera, you need not update the firmware.Using an 8 1/2 by 11 inch piece of graph paper (1/4 inch boxes), and placing a small 6" ruler on the paper, using natural sunlight through the window, I took several Macro test shots, ensuring that the image was completely on the graph paper. b. Again, focus issue - sometimes in the middle of a series of shots, it just seems to get lost. The shutter will need to be kept pressed for a few seconds and released, before it responds and focusses again. We're extremely surprised by the Nikon Coolpix S3500. It's a nice little camera to look at and it fits nicely with the Style series that it's allocated to. The 7x optical zoom will be very useful to anyone wanting to take it on holiday and wanting to explore, not just wanting the typical pool and clubs photos. The quality of the lens is great for a camera at this price point, but the biggest surprise came in the ISO test. Sure, the camera suffers from noise, they all do. It's to be expected. What we weren't expecting was the quality of the images at both low ISO and how the camera handled the noise. We can't decide whether Nikon have reprogrammed the noise reduction software or taken it away and improved the sensor because there's none of that painted smooth look that's normally associated with small sensor noise control. I have used the camera for slightly over a month. Pl see the pics I uploaded. The following are my observations: Learning when and how to use the few automatic focus options before taking important pictures is essential. This camera (like any other camera) focuses sharply once the photographer understands how and when to use the various options.

The Nikon Coolpix S3500 does get a little vignetting at the corners of the frame and the flash has been designed to replicate natural light, just a more stable version of it. This means that the vignetting seen without flash is also present when it fires. However, it disperses when the lens is zoomed in.Power sources: EN-EL19 Rechargeable Li-ion Battery (supplied), EH-70P Charging AC Adapter (supplied), EH-62G AC Adapter (optional), MH-66 Battery Charge (optional)

Camera Strap, Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL19 (with battery case), Charging AC Adapter EH-70P, USB Cable UC-E6, ViewNX 2 CD-ROM, Reference Manual (CD-ROM)All in all its a good camera but not an absolutely great one. I feel its a great camera for people who want fully automatic settings, but since I prefer having fiddle room, that's not too good for me. In 35mm terms, the focal length of the 7x optical zoom fitted to the S3500 is 26-182mm. The lens that Nikon have put on this new run of digital compacts that includes the S3500 is great. We couldn't find any evidence of barrel distortions at wide-angle or pincushion at full zoom.

Single (default setting), Continuous (up to 6 images are taken at a rate of about 1.1 fps), BSS (Best Shot Selector), Multi-shot 16 Macro images taken with a zoom lens "optically optimized for normal shooting distances, they [the lenses] produce somewhat below-optimum image quality at close-up distances - particularly edge softness due to curvature of field." (Search on this phrase for an interesting article on the subject.) Lens Performance - Images have a decent amount of detail at both ends of the lens, with a good control over purple fringing, although pincushion distortion is visible in some shots. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 5cm which allows you to get close enough for decent macro shots. Lens: NIKKOR lens with 7x optical zoom; 4.7-32.9 mm (35mm [135] format equivalent: 26-182 mm); f/3.4-6.4Digital Filters - The S3500 has a good range of filters to use to help take more creative pictures, with a number of examples above.
