About this deal

To make an anti aging face cream, I like to make whipped tallow balm and add the Soft Skin Synergy from Plant Therapy. That essential oil blend is full of anti aging essential oils with amazing skin benefits. Combine it with the nutrients in grass fed tallow, and you have something truly wonderful! Tallow can be stored for extended periods, without refrigeration, only if kept in a sealed container to prevent oxidation. The Different Types of Tallow Thankfully, after changing our diet to primarily real, whole foods and incorporating nutrient dense foods like liver, most of the skin issues that I’ve always had have been completely resolved. However, occasionally in the winter months when the air is dry, I can still get a bit of dry skin. These rare occurrences are what first introduced me to tallow balm. Basically, tallow is rendered fat, usually beef fat. Rendering is the process that melts raw fat and makes it into tallow. For my purposes here, I’ll be referring to beef tallow. If you use the right amount, tallow balm is not greasy on skin. I recommend using just enough. It can take practice to figure out the right amount for your skin.

Preventing the breakdown of collagen is a great way to prolong skin aging, and tallow can help you with that.

Raw Manuka Honey 950+ Mg/kg of MGO - Manuka Honey is a natural humectant that helps to draw moisture into the skin. It is also rich in antioxidants and has antibacterial properties. The 950+ Mg/kg of MGO indicates the level of methylglyoxal, a compound responsible for Manuka honey's antibacterial activity. The CIR Expert Panel has reviewed Honey and concluded that it is safe for use in cosmetic and personal care products. After you’ve learned how to make tallow balm, you’ll have an extremely healing home remedy right at your fingertips. Grass fed tallow balm is so versatile. Palmitic acid helps improve the smoothness of skin, and helps with skin’s barrier function, and decreases as we age. Tallow, such as beef tallow is animal fat, but that doesn't mean it's bad for our skin. What's interesting is that tallow resembles our natural sebum (the oil produced by the glands in our skin) so much that the literal translation of tallow in Latin is "sebum." The resemblance means that the ingredient is usually well received by most skin types, doesn't cause irritation, and can be a godsend for people suffering from dry skin. in other words, it's an amazing moisturizer! Another problem concerning the purity of tallow is the diet of the animals from which its obtained. It's impossible to know how the animals were treated before they ended up where they did. Usually, you buy products containing tallow from companies that don't breed animals but rather buy the ingredient from companies in the meat industry.

Solid tallow balm is simply made by mixing melted tallow and olive oil. After they are mixed together, pour into an appropriately sized mason jar to store. In its solid form, tallow balm will store well for several months at room temperature. The final product is smooth and easy to apply with a fingertip. Because of the simplicity and longer storage of the solid version, that’s the method that we prefer. Whipped Tallow Balm What’s so great about putting beef fat on your skin? Isn’t that something that ancient cave people did? People have been using tallow for skin care for centuries. It turns out they knew what they were doing ( source). If you’re new to the idea of tallow skin care, let me introduce you. Meet the ultimate skin healing and soothing moisturizer of yesterday and today.

Can you use tallow for oily skin?

The natural antimicrobial properties in tallow help to prevent acne and breakouts. Tallow also contains powerful anti inflammatory properties ( source). Many of the nutrients in grass fed tallow help to promote youthful skin by providing substances that our skin naturally loses as we age. For whipped tallow balm, pour liquid balm mixture into a large mixing bowl. Allow to solidify at room temperature. When solid, whip with a hand or stand mixer until light and fluffy. Store in glass jar. Our preference is always to work directly with a local farmer. Whether you are using the tallow in your cooking or skincare, quality makes a difference! Most of the toxins in an animal are stored in fat tissue. So, finding a clean, high-quality source of beef tallow is important!

Beeswax: Beeswax is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-allergenic; it has moisturizing abilities to boot, making it great as an anti-aging ingredient. You can read more about beeswax here.

Does tallow clog pores?

tallow is an ingredient rendered from beef and mutton fat. At room temperature, it's solid. However, when it's carefully purified and has undergone cosmetic manufacturing processes, it becomes oily. To be pure, tallow must come from animals such as cows, bison, or sheep. These animals have unique digestive systems and are called ruminants. The animal must be grass-fed to have all the beneficial properties for our skin's health. This is because the food alters the composition of their fat tissue. Grain-fed animals have smaller vitamin-mineral complexes and an inflammatory imbalance of fatty acids. The benefits discussed below refer to tallow derived from only grass-fed animals. If you think tallow is giving you any issues with your pores, you’re probably using too much. A little goes a long way! Use just enough, and it will be perfect. How do you make tallow? After you’ve rendered your tallow down, the hard part is done. From there transforming your tallow into tallow balm is very easy. All you need is a small sauce pan, heat safe container, and a little bit of olive oil.

Anytime you have beef fat mix with a little oil, you’re not going to have the same experience as if you were to pop open a bottle of commercial body lotion. But why would you want to use that toxic stuff? Based on the available information and scientific data, the ingredients used in Esca's Skin Care Product are considered safe for use in cosmetics and skincare products. Below is a detailed safety assessment for each ingredient. Lard from free range, naturally raised pork does contain a nice amount of vitamin D, but that’s about it. On the other hand, as we saw above, tallow contains a wide array of fat soluble vitamins and and an abidance of other nutrients. Tallow is the clear winner when it comes to skincare.
