Today we’ve got her co-host, Lizzie Ward, to talk about her 10 favourite paints from the new range and how she has been using them.James created a spectacular feathered rainbow on his Lord of Change by thinning his Contrast paints right down to a glaze consistency with Contrast Medium . Then he applied lots of thin layers onto his Greater Daemon, slightly overlapping layers of Celestium Blue , Dreadful Visage , Sigvald Burgundy , Karandras Green , and more to retain vibrant paint colours while building up a smooth, ‘wet blend’ gradient between each hue. Daniel Veress To some, that might contradict the idea of Contrast somewhat, but the smooth and even finish of these colours means that you can achieve an (almost) perfect layer of yellow, orange or red with just a single coat of paint.Pretty revolutionary. Note that these colours still require a white/light primer, as they are transparent like all Contrast paints. The robes were painted with Stormfiend and Nighthaunt Gloom, the shield with Doomfire Magentaand Sigvald Burgundy, which I wetblended together, the club was given two coats of Ratling Grime, and I also used Ratling Grime to shade the brass armour I basecoated with Runelord Brass. For the skin, I used a coat of Kroak Green plus some glazes of Poxwalker to add some blue-greenish hues, and Targor Rageshade to wash the metal. Value

Not only have all of the existing Shades been reformulated – during the process of refining these recipes, the Citadel Colour technicians were inspired to create seven entirely new paints.* On the paler end of the scale for blues and greens, the less saturated Briar Queen Chill finds itself sitting alongside Aethermatic Blue. Lizzie: A bold and brash paint with subtle darker tones, this is really versatile. Of course, it’s ideal for those Aeldari Striking Scorpions, but it’s brilliant for glazing onto eye lenses and gemstones to create glowing effects. Need to paint some solid Space Marine armour?
