Asus specifies a maximum brightness of up to 550 cd/m², but this only applies to HDR content. Our measurements show a maximum of ~570 cd/m² for a small white image, which then becomes ~460 cd/m² for a near-complete white image. Unfortunately, HDR switching does not work automatically, but has to be activated manually in the Windows display settings. ASUS Antibacterial Guard protection is applied to both the keyboard and palm-rest area. The touchpad area is not treated with ASUS Antibacterial Guard. The Ryzen 7 6800H is a very good processor for CPU based HEVC video encoding. The results show the 6800H as 4 percent ahead of the Core i7-12700H, and 5 percent faster than the 5800H from last year. The top end of this chart is very cramped though, and lots of products released over the last two years show decent performance. We created this performance assessment based on the following characteristics of the CPU and their relevance to the latest graphics-intense games: Ryzen H platforms have a design TDP of 45+W, while Ryzen HS APUs are higher-tier and more efficient bins with a design TDP of 35+W. Both can go higher depending on the implementation and thermal module;
Some of these are also available with the higher-tier Ryzen 9 processors. Some of these also have a MUX, which makes a big difference in games. For now, here’s a specs sheet of this laptop, and further down, we’ll touch on the important aspects to consider here. Some creative pros can get away with this level of performance, but if you work with media that requires a powerful GPU, this is still not the tier for you. For Acrobat PDF exporting to PNG images, the 6800H doesn't gain very much performance compared to the 5800H, and ends up quite behind the 12700H with its faster single-core speeds. The Core i7 model finished this test 9 seconds faster, which is a margin of 15 percent. The Cinebench R15 multi-loop clearly shows that the Ryzen 7 6800U only loses a little performance after the first few runs before operating stably at 25 watts. However, there is no noticeable performance advantage over the old Ryzen 7 5800U either. The CB loop shows no benefits in performance mode.We also have the Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 7 and its Intel Core i7-1260P. The P series is an Alder Lake addition for laptops of this type, even though there will still be 12th Generation U series chips, too. For 12th Generation processors, U series will max out at 15 watts, while the P series CPUs are configured at 28 watts, like the Ryzen 6000 U series. This has to do with the way Intel has rearranged its hierarchy, naming structure, and architecture for the 12th Generation. Performance these days has become much more complex than simple core and thread counts; you can read more about the Intel P and E cores that influenced this new naming convention, as well as other efficiencies, in our explainer. Asus has gone with a 16:10 aspect ratio here, which is nice because it provides more vertical real estate than a standard 16:9 screen. I think Asus could do one better and go 3:2 for even more vertical space here, like Microsoft's Surface lineup, though that's a personal preference of mine. Battery Life on the Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED At 4k even my RTX 2080ti in combination with a Ryzen 9 5950x is hopelessly overtaxed most of the time, but it's really there only to run CUDA not games.
