About this deal

The world-first foam is scientifically proven to deliver 25% greater energy return and retain its optimum levels of underfoot rebound and cushioning for longer, thanks to the infusion of the planet’s strongest wonder material. Longer lasting: Laboratory tests show that even when the G-FLY foam is aged to mimic extensive use, it still delivers more energy return than some unaged foams. Testing shows it still performs strongly after 1,200km – double the industry standard. If you already have a hiking boot, running shoe, or training shoe that fits you well, you could measure the length of the shoe’s insole and match this with the size guide.

Stability: B ( Lightweight structure and design makes it feel less stable than typical hiking footwear that's heavily reinforced, espcially for wet conditions) The wear on my Inov-8 Roclite G 345 GTX boots after walking 1200 miles on my Lands End to John O’Groats and 3-Peaks challenge. You can read my review of the Inov-8 Roclite G 345 GTX boots here. RocFly G 390 boots sole wear after about 350 miles Wayne added: “I’m immensely proud of the huge team effort behind this new boot. We’ve worked incredibly hard with The University of Manchester and leading footwear industry veteran Doug Sheridan in developing new innovations – something we plan to supercharge even further in 2022 and beyond.” INOV-8 ROCFLY™ G 390: CONCLUSION It’s important to note that the uppers are water resistant and not waterproof, so this might affect when you choose to wear them. Protection and breathabilityThe foam gives 25% more energy return. Laboratory tests show that even when the foam is aged to mimic extensive use, it still delivers more energy return than some unaged foams. All applicable customs and import duties and any other charges are the responsibility of the customer. It seems odd to me that a hiking boot is water-resistant and not waterproof, but then I do live in Scotland where we have a lot of wet terrain and rain. The soles are made for trails and hills, although they are not as deep lugged as some of inov-8’s footwear that is made for steeper and muddier terrain. I have found the soles to be ideal for local woodland trails and hill paths. Best 3 season hiking boots that I’ve ever worn, hands down. I think they are pretty good value for money considering how long they should last and how comfortable they are.

Inov-8 has designed a hiking boot that includes both GRAPHENE-GRIP™ rubber sole for traction on trails and G-FLY™ Graphene foam – which is said to deliver “25% greater energy return”. The first weekend I took the ROCFLY G 390s out it was damp -- standing in a cloud damp -- and all the rivers were running high, and it is not an exaggeration to say I totally submerged the boots in water more than a few times. MORE ENERGY: G-FLY Graphene midsole foam gives 25% more energy return, for a snappy rebound with every step. I tend to hike short, steep hills on my toes, and because of the adapter-flex groove I was actually able to get up on my toes and not feel like I was fighting the shoe. It also made for a softer and more natural feel downhill, as the shoe rolled with my stride, rather than landing flat. These sensations aren’t necessarily novel if you’re used to hiking in trail runners, but flexible and agile are certainly not words I’d use to describe most boots I’ve hiked in. They have a well-cushioned midsole that provides a good amount of bounce; these boots propel me forward. The biggest test for me is always how badly my feet hurt after a long section of road walking on a multi-day hike, and these kept me going without being in too much pain. Big fan of these and Inov-8 in generalG-FLY™ foam is not the only patent-pending technology used by inov-8 on the ROCFLY™ G 390, with GRAPHENE-GRIP™ and ADAPTER-FLEX™ also included. The latter is a cleverly positioned 10mm underfoot groove that – unlike on more rigid cushioned hiking boots – allows the feet to adapt, react and mould to uneven terrain with agility. Forgiving forefoot width, good for wide feet or feet that grow after days and days of hiking: Alex/Sam A revolutionary boot like no other, the ROCFLY™ G 390 from inov-8 uses a unique Graphene-infused G-FLY™ foam that supercharges your feet so you can hike further than ever before. The world-first foam is scientifically proven to deliver 25% greater energy return and retain itsoptimum levels of underfoot rebound and cushioning for longer, thanks to the infusion of theplanet’s strongest wonder material.

The shoe features an "Adapter Flex" groove in the midfoot unique to Inov-8. I was worried that it would cause some instability or awkwardness on the trail, but I honestly never noticed it during my hikes. The shoe features enough rigidity through the midfoot that it wasn't an awkward sensation and I do feel like it allowed me to adapt to awkward terrain. The G 390 also has a surprising amount of flexibility for a hiking boot that makes it almost feel like a trail runner, which I think runners will find very appealing. The soles are deeper than the Roclite range and any other hiking boot that I’ve worn. The extra cushioning was evident immediately, definitely designed for long distance hiking and to take out much of the impact from your joints on hard surfaces. There’s also a good amount of padding around the inside of the boots to keep them comfortably tight around your feet. Sole and Grip The RocFly G 390 boots feel very well made and look really smart and wouldn’t be out of place walking around town. But it’s the comfort that has really surprised me, especially the cushioning in the soles. As soon as I put them on I knew they were going to be good and probably my favourite walking boots. Comparison below for the sole designs available on Inov-8s Roclite 345 and 400 boots. Roclite G 345 sole on the left and the Roclite Pro G 400 sole on the right I’ve also tried the Lone Peaks and again not sufficient grip in technical terrain and honestly although I’m not a through hiker (on the list) I’d be more inclined to use their Olympus that has more cushion and MegaGrip on the sole. Durability is usually the Altra’s downfall. The boots are really versatile and suit a range of activities, from dog walking to hill hiking and even mountain walks in summer. A revolutionary new boot like no other, the RocFly G 390 uses a unique Graphene-infused G-FLY foam that supercharges your feet so you can hike further than ever before.
