About this deal

Don't listen to the haters on this one, which I respect their point-of-views. This is one that will not be off putting too after a couple minutes. First tested this with several fragrances on release, my only recollection being it was "OK" and moved on.

Off skin and in the air, it's a different story. After a 5 second burst of pungency, it goes to a shaving cream like vibe and progresses to show cocoa facets further on. The cocoa is partnered by a hefty dose of greenness owing to fig leaf and patchouli. The drydown is almost entirely patchouli. When I first sprayed this I thought "Wow, it's so peculiar!" Nothing like I've smelt before. It's dark and bitter. Woody and pungent. After it dried down, a bitter cocoa note emerged and I was starting to like it. The opening notes can be very intrusive and I would imagine not everyone would be into this. I would say this one is an acquired taste. Otherwise I cannot explain the warm spice, the dark dense low, the tender scratching, the "Kokorico" on my woman's skin exudes after an almost two lashes long prelude of watery light green, latent fruit. And to think that this is the only pillar fragrance for men (Monsieur being the other) from Gaultier that is not a reinvention of Le Male (though the bottle winks otherwise)The only thing I admire about the bottle, is the fact that if looked aside, we have the visual identity with the other fragrances from Gaultier and the famous male torso. And just few people noticed that! This green cocoa structure is beautiful and not really terribly offensive either. It is possible that this fragrance was reformulated because it seems to have been extremely polarizing earlier. Also, I really find no similarities to LIDGE - fact which also might support the reformulation hypothesis. What I don't like is, that this fragrance has an androgynous vibe (in a bad way). It's too masculine of the spices because of the sharp vetiver/fig leaf/cedar notes, but also too feminine because of the edible cacao. I don't know how's this possible.. The fact is, I as a female wouldn't wear it, but I also definetly would not introduce this scent to my boyfriend. And we're both spicy orintal/gourmand lovers.

The top of the composition features refreshing fig leaves, which provide energy, the heart is filled with raw cocoa, which stimulates (not the artificially sweet kind, but a natural extract), while woody notes of patchouli, cedar and vetiver express their masculinity and power. When the drydown arrives, you still waiting for the "Ba Ba Boom" aspect in it, but sadly, everything is pretty much gone. kk i ve had this for 2 weeks now. blind bought it because this was never introduced to the north american market and the price was good. i knew about all the hate for this fragrance but since im a huge fan of JPG and having owned le male, fleur le male and gaultier 2 i owed it to myself to try this one out. oh boy am i glad i did and quiet frankly i dont get the hate. The name is so silly that I would certainly consider a man who'd display a bottle of "Kokorico" on his bathroom-shelf a trifle weird. "Doodle-doo" or "Kokorico" in French is a men's perfume released by Gaultier in 2011 - and this fragrance was given considerable attention because because of its bottle, its name and the advertising campaign related to it.

I got this bottle at "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" promo at a department store. The other one I got was JPG Le Male, and I had to choose something else from the same brand. It was between Kokorico, Le Beau Male, and Le Male Terrible. I went for this one because I thought it has the most distant scent compared to Le Male. Can you bare to live without this... maybe no…maybe yes. As it’s no longer available will you wish you had a bottle? Only if you were there at the time… like Diesel Masculine Plus, it lives on at its best as a memory rather than the reality of now… though a reformulation could transform this loveable sows ear into silk. It's like you spilled yourself with a mixture of cacao and alcohol, adding some way too masculine spices (sharp, green, unpleasant type of vetiver). And the fig leaf is the missing weed note for the terrible explosion.

At that time I've never bought a designer fragrance before. I was still new to the game and didn't really know all that much or what I was looking for. Kokorico" is linear and only changes slightly after 20mt after apply, where an anise-like iris (and maybe lavender?) shows presence. To my nose is a very similar floral note as "Paul Smith Man"; soft, spicy iris note minimized to the maximum. The fight last a few minutes and that's the source of so many dislikes. Wait, here it comes... does one note defeat the other? No, you just have to wait for the vetiver to tell them how to live in peace, it will be worth it. Once there is peace, you can enjoy a very spicy scent, earthy, green, expensive, really good and versatile (in my opinion) this will last for some 6 hours, after that spiciness slowly turns to a sweet chocolate, a little bit closer to the skin. This will last some 6 hours more. This is a pleasant nightclub type fragrance. To me it’s like a mild greener dark chocolate version of Spicebomb or Terre d’ Hermes. There’s a slight note of plasticine to it too. Honestly, if you're looking for an easy, simple yet different going-out gourmand for mid-season, this will do the job, especially among the young crowd (below 30). Its apparently on sale everywhere now. If you can grab a bottle at a low price as I did, go ahead. It's definitly worth it. Don't rely on the bad reputation on fragrantica, sample it for yourself an mTHEN make up your mind. Personally I enjoy it, it doesnt "wow me", but I'd still give it a 7/10.Staying-power is mediocre, too - after two hours you're done with your "mating call". Other men's fragrances reveal their beguiling potential only after two or three hours...
