About this deal

This product’s active-ingredient formula includes corn gluten and sodium chloride. Once the rat eats the poison, these materials swell and prevent the rat from drinking, killing them by dehydration. Unlike most pets and children, rats are unable to vomit, which is why this product is the most pet-safe product on the market. Do note, however, that there is zero conventional poison in RatX, which means the rat has to ingest enough of the rodenticide to effectively kill it. It’s also suitable for indoor and outdoor use. A third type of poison has calcium releasers to inflate the bloodstream with excessive calcium to cause organ failure and death. A common calcium releaser is vitamin D3, which carries no risk of secondary poison. This is good news if you have predators about, like a pet cat, because it will not harm them and has a minimal ecological impact outside of the rodent.

Metal phosphides have been used as a means of killing rodents and are considered single-dose fast acting rodenticides (death occurs commonly within 1–3 days after single bait ingestion). A bait consisting of food and a phosphide (usually zinc phosphide) is left where the rodents can eat it. The acid in the digestive system of the rodent reacts with the phosphide to generate toxic phosphine gas. This method of vermin control has possible use in places where rodents are resistant to some of the anticoagulants, particularly for control of house and field mice; zinc phosphide baits are also cheaper than most second-generation anticoagulants, so that sometimes, in the case of large infestation by rodents, their population is initially reduced by copious amounts of zinc phosphide bait applied, and the rest of population that survived the initial fast-acting poison is then eradicated by prolonged feeding on anticoagulant bait. Inversely, the individual rodents that survived anticoagulant bait poisoning (rest population) can be eradicated by pre-baiting them with nontoxic bait for a week or two (this is important to overcome bait shyness, and to get rodents used to feeding in specific areas by specific food, especially in eradicating rats) and subsequently applying poisoned bait of the same sort as used for pre-baiting until all consumption of the bait ceases (usually within 2–4 days). These methods of alternating rodenticides with different modes of action gives actual or almost 100% eradications of the rodent population in the area, if the acceptance/palatability of baits are good (i.e., rodents feed on it readily). Tomcat All Weather Bait is easy to use and works against mice, squirrels, voles, raccoons, chipmunks and other rodents that damage your life. Sapphire Paste works and does not disappoint. Professionals get their money’s worth with this economically friendly solution. Just one five-kilogram container has 500 sachets to place in bait stations.Sometimes, anticoagulant rodenticides are potentiated by an antibiotic or bacteriostatic agent, most commonly sulfaquinoxaline. The aim of this association is that the antibiotic suppresses intestinal symbiotic microflora, which are a source of vitamin K. Diminished production of vitamin K by the intestinal microflora contributes to the action of anticoagulants. Added vitamin D also has a synergistic effect with anticoagulants. Customers advise to not lose heart if it doesn’t seem to work. You might have to use a larger portion for pesky mice and rats, or use Farnam bait with a trap for better results – as one of the customers that used it as bait with a couple of old-school snap traps and an electronic mouse trap said it works like a charm for him. The rat poison's effectiveness depends on its ability to lure the rats in, so the odor is actually a benefit. So, yes, all rat poison will have an odor, typically a strong-garlic smell deriving from the phosphine. Can You Use Mouse Bait Without the Station? The California legislature is trying to ban the use of fast-acting rodenticides altogether. The reason? A rat that dies from fast-acting poison will have high levels of poison in its carcass, potentially poisoning the next animal that comes along and eats it. This could start a dangerous cycle that affects wildlife several links up the food chain. Required Dosage Some of the symptoms may take time to develop: from a few hours to a few days. Poisons and pets: First aid

Requires multiple feeding to become lethal. Rats have to gorge on the poison for several days to eventually wander away dying (which can take up to a week). We hope these products help you find the best rat poison to clear away your problems and alleviate the stress of an infestation in your home, business, restaurant, or farm.

They are also designed to easily secure into a box or bait station with a hole through the middle for a rod to easily go through. It’s also safe enough to use in sensitive areas even where food is prepared. It claims to wipe out any infestation within 4-10 days. Change poison baits frequently: use different baits with different active ingredients and flavors, rotate them over time. Though they may not kill a human or pet, exposure to high doses of chemicals in nontoxic poisons causes serious side effects, like flushing and a drop in blood pressure. For these reasons, keep nontoxic products in the same safe areas that would be typical for toxic rat poisons to be stored. Slow-Acting vs. Fast-Acting
