About this deal

Nothing you’ve ever read will prepare you for the utterly unique Washington Poe.” – Keith Nixon, author of Dig Two Graves As if that's not enough pressure on its own, there's also a bit of evidence that suggests Poe himself might be one of the next targets. Entertainment/unputdownability (if it's not a word, it should be! :) ) -- 5 stars -- fast-paced and gripping. With this book, its quite official that MW Craven is my go-to author and this one was so meticulously and smartly done, he's now upgraded from my go-to author to AUTOBUY author. Then, a disgraced FBI agent reaches out with a theory that sends the case in an even darker direction. Could they be dealing with someone even worse than your garden variety serial killer?

The author is married to his wife, Joanne. The two live together in Carlisle. Michael enjoys going out with his springer spaniel or hanging out in the pub talking about nonsense. When he isn’t busy with that, he can be discovered at punk shows or writing festivals all over the country.I would like to thank Mr Craven for taking the time to answer these questions. The Curator (Washington Poe #3) is published 4 June 2020.

And then there’s Estelle Doyle. It’s true the caustic pathologist has never walked down the sunny side of the street but this time has she gone too far? Shot twice in the head, her father’s murder appears to be an open and shut case. Estelle has firearms discharge residue on her hands, and, in a house surrounded by fresh snow, hers are the only footprints going in. Since her arrest she’s only said three words: ‘Tell Washington Poe.’ Tilly and Poe are surely set to become firm favourites with crime fiction aficionados. The setting worked well with the murders – brutality set among England’s finest scenery. The plot was satisfyingly twisty and clever and the little bright-spots of humour worked well to offer the reader a little respite from the thrill of the read.” – Michael J. Malone, author of A Suitable Lie Characters -- 3 stars -- there isn't much character development or interesting characterization; the characters are an interesting bunch, but most are based on cliche: a female scientist with the brain of a genius and zero social skills; a tough and lonely down-to earth policeman with troubled past; a sexy, mysterious and super-clever pathologist; an evil genius criminal etc. I have a warped mind. When my wife finished The Curator, she looked at me and said, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ Saying that, I was a probation officer for 16 years and the reason for the crimes have to make sense to me. The bad guys motivation has to seem real, albeit nasty. That’s my starting point. Things tend to escalate from there . . .And finally there’s Detective Inspector Stephanie Flynn. Poe used to be her boss, she’s now his. She heads up the National Crime Agency’s Serious Crime Analysis Section – the unit charged with apprehending serial killers and solving apparently motiveless murders. It’s the country’s last line of defence and although Flynn knows managing Poe and Tilly will be like herding cats, she also knows she’s the only one who can do it . . .

Meet Detective Sergeant Washington Poe. Dark, cynical, ruthless; he lives a monastic existence in a shepherd’s croft on the most desolate moorland in Cumbria. Even his secrets have secrets. He has a past he keeps there and another past he doesn’t yet know about . . .

Personal friend of the gritty detective Washington Poe is charged with murder. With all the evidence pointing to Estelle Doyle’s guilt, this amounts to the perfect set-up or the truth that Estelle did in fact murder her father. And then there's Estelle Doyle. It's true the caustic pathologist has never walked down the sunny side of the street but this time has she gone too far? Shot twice in the head, her father's murder appears to be an open and shut case. Estelle has firearms discharge residue on her hands, and, in a house surrounded by fresh snow, hers are the only footprints going in. Since her arrest she's only said three words: 'Tell Washington Poe.'

As the series begins, DI Walsh has just been saved from a permanent suspension thanks to a transfer to the “Last Chance Saloon” crime unit. His first case involves a letter sent by a woman who was murdered 20 years prior. That letter brings new suspects into the picture, and DI Walsh and his colleagues will have to try to make sense of the very cold case if they're to bring the real culprit to justice. You get a serial killer of course and mystery - all the bells and whistles of a real mind bender. As I said you really don’t know how this is going to tie together… but it does beautifully. It is not handed to you on a silver platter either you are taken there on a journey. ☠️ The Killing Field– While having breakfast and debating how to spend the remainder of their holiday, Poe and Tilly are requested to head to a Cumbrian airfield once known as the killing field. We feel that's worth pointing out only because it bothers some people to see shows and books using “coded neurodivergence” as a plot device without fully committing to the label and an accurate portrayal of the advantages, disadvantages, and traits that go along with it. Others are happy enough to see any part of themselves or their loved ones in books that they don't mind overlooking that. Gritty? Cozy? Where do the Washington Poe Books Fall? There’s Jared Keaton, who used to be quite in demand as a chef catering to the stars. He was known for being charming and charismatic. He also happens to be a psychopath. Jared is in the process of serving a life sentence for murdering his daughter Elizabeth. While her body was ultimately never discovered, it was Detective Sergeant Washington Poe’s testimony that helped him get convicted.I absolutely love to read the dynamics between Poe and Tilly and the fact my girl Tilly has so many roles in here and she grew so much from the previous books in the standalone series made my heart swell. Its not often that Crime Thrillers can make you so very attached to the characters lives (Poe, Tilly, Estelle and Flynn), and also invested with the main plot of the story which in solving the crimes at hand. The case in here is so unique, and so well-done, it almost seemed like a perfect crime. By far, this is one of the most smartest, classiest and deadliest cases I've read and the ending had a bit of twist that concluded the whole book perfectly. Craven has a way with grand endings and this book definitely has a good twist that will make you go.... bloody hell.
