About this deal

I've combed through the annals to find 47 onscreen duos from across genres, time periods, and family dynamics. We've got divorced moms, single moms, married moms, and a mom living with a cat possessed by the spirit of her dead husband. We've got loving sons, precocious sons, rebellious sons, and sons who happen to be the Antichrist. It’s not easy being a mum. You’ve likely heard the old line about how it’s the hardest job that exists, but it’s a cliché for a reason – it’s the one occupation from which you never get a break, at least not until your kids all turn 18 and get the hell out of the house. That’s why it’s almost insulting that the world’s mothers only get a single day of celebration. That’s not to say you shouldn’t go over the top for the materfamilias in your life on Mother’s Day. We just wish there was a way to give every mama their proper props. But that is, of course, impossible.

The stunning Kay Parker is unforgettable as the frustrated and finally incestuous mother Barbara Scott, bringing an integrity to her role that is rare in this genre. Thoroughly sensual, but never remotely sleazy, she became on the strength of this portrayal the most renowned British born porn actress, except ironically in her native country where censorship prevented it from being widely shown. We've got oodles of movies about mothers and daughters, fathers and daughters, and fathers and sons (the sports genre would be in crisis without them). But in honor of this Mother's Day, I would like to celebrate a rarer and overlooked genre onscreen: mothers and sons. If he is comfortable dressing in a way that makes him feel like he blends in, I think that is great. However, I want him to have the inner confidence to step out of the box if he wants. If he feels like wearing something, even though none of his peers are, I want him to feel like he can.

I also let him know what someone puts on their body isn’t an invitation, for him or anyone else, ever. And he should always take heed on how he looks at people, especially women. There is a way to look at a woman without staring or gawking. No matter how you see her, she deserves respect. I don’t care what she’s wearing. TABOO is considered a classic in the adult genre and it's easy to see why. It's certainly a very well-made movie and I'd argue that it also has some good performances (one great one). With that said, I'm not too sure I'd call it a flat out masterpiece or one of the greatest of its kind. I can't help but think the film would have been better had it been made a few years earlier when films like this could have more "story" and actually have something to say.

Regardless, I told him nobody should be judged based on how they dress — not even your very embarrassing mother. Most people wear what they are comfortable in, what makes them feel good. It doesn’t matter where it came from because this isn’t how we judge others. We focus on how they make us feel, if they are kind, how they treat people. I told him judging people for what they wear is very transparent, and he will be missing out on a lot in life if he is going to focus on making friends because of what they wear, what they have, or what they look like.
