As with previous Garmin zumo models the zumo XT2 touchscreen display is glove-friendly. Plus, just like the zumo XT2 predecessor, the Garmin zumo XT, the Garmin zumo XT2 6-inch display can be viewed in either landscape or portrait modes. Preloaded UK, European and Middle East On-Road and Off-Road Maps For fans of Garmin’s dated, difficult, but powerful BaseCamp computer application, you can be cautiously optimistic. Although it is not officially supported – though it did recognize my XT2 – you can always continue to create routes in BaseCamp, export them as GPX files, and import them into Tread. From Google MyDrive, you can export the route as a KML file, which can then be loaded into Google earth to create a 3D Fly-through of the route. A couple of sliders enable you to select just a portion of the log file.

When selecting between the two the question I’d ask would be if the new features the Zumo XT2 offers are something you are interested in, would use, and are willing to spend the time to learn. If you don’t like change the Zumo XT is there, and has a very comparable screen, but with the menus and mangers you already know.

And I had a couple of other bugs, e.g. waypoints not showing up under waypoints but under favourites and so on... but I cant recreate those in a reasonable time. This all took me many many hours already.)

It’s well worth spending some quiet time with the Garmin to get used to all the features, many of which are quite buried away (though easy to access once you know where to look). While the other riders can disappear off the map view you’re in, touching the navigation icon cycles between 3D nav view, top-down nav, and zoomed out to accommodate all riders.
