About this deal

I'm giving this 2 stars because I enjoyed the writing and being teleported to the beautiful south of France. But the plot and ending were POUBELLE (trashola). Smitten Thomas still is in the hold of that lost beauty who, he maintains: "was not your average teenage girl; she was sophisticated, vibrant, witty" -- though others will paint rather a different picture of her. Soon we’re stepping through wide glass doors and into the bright midday sun. I slip on my shades and run one hand through my short brown hair, glad I remembered to get it cut before this trip. It could be worse—in December, the highs here top out in the mid-eighties—but I’m not built for the heat. My pasty skin burns no matter what SPF I apply, and I’m not the world’s strongest swimmer. I’m not afraid of the water; hanging out in the shallow end of a pool is fine, and I can wade out in a lake to fish, but the ocean is not my friend. Even in salt water, somehow I sink.

Mom sighs, and the queue inches forward again. It’s been ten minutes since we joined line five, and we’ve almost reached the first curve. Eight belted lanes between us and the gate agent at ten minutes per lane; my guess is we’ll be out of here around two thirty. I don’t share that with Mason. Martin and Peggy Chance are about to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary and their children are supposed to be coming together to plan a party. The Chance siblings, Ford, Cooper and Palmer, however are having a hard time agreeing on any of the details for the big bash celebrating the parents they love. Then an invitation to the 15th anniversary Cambridge University reunion provides the perfect opportunity for Emily to exact revenge for what happened to her – her anger has not dimmed with the passing of time and now she’s hell bent on bringing down those who she felt were the “architects of her downfall” – she wants someone to pay for what they have done.I loved this second chance romance so much! The gossip columns between the chapters were so entertaining! The character building was great. You easily resonate with Liv and Ransom! You see they are about to pull down their old school Gymnasium, but these walls have secrets hidden inside them, and they sure as hell don't want them getting out!

And that's the problem. I adore MQ's writing and everything that I love about her style shone through in this story - there's humor, there's heart, there's a little bit of heat - but none of the relationships were explored enough for me to connect. I'd start to get invested in a relationship, and then BOOM, on to the next one. It was so jarring for me, and I found myself resenting the presence of the other love stories every time I would start to get hooked on a particular one. I get why the story is written this way and I liked how everything all ties together for one great family experience, but I just think it would've been more successful as three books/distinct love stories centered around one event. That could've been a really cool series. This left me wanting more and wanting less at the same time; a strange jumble of confusion and frustration. Thoughts: This was a fun second chance Hollywood love story with fun celeb gossip articles sprinkled throughout that help to move the story along. I loved seeing behinds the curtain and all the little, intricate moving parts that work together to create both a hit tv show and the reunion that follows. This story is set on gorgeous Marina Island, set off the coast of Seattle. The three adult Chance siblings are coming together on the island to plan their parents’ 50th Wedding Anniversary. This proves to be a challenge as the kids realize how far they’ve grown apart and unearth all of the sibling drama that has been buried deep. On its face, this is a romance, but it’s really a family drama.

Ford always finds himself too busy running the company that his parents built and spends most of his time with his assistant. Cooper finds himself distracted with the baker who happens to be an old fling he has never forgotten. And then there’s Palmer, lost in what to do with her life and looking for her future which might include an old crush who is now a sexy doctor. The story is narrated by Emily in two timelines, with chapters headed in a countdown of hours leading up to the big reveal, interspersed with chapters set during Emily’s uni days with best friends Henry, Lyla and Will.Anyone else remember the anticipation you would get when you had to WAIT for every episode...or record an episode on VHS if you weren't gonna be home when it aired? Soooooo good. That delayed gratification, I swear. It made TV magical. And this book definitely triggered some nostalgia for that lost feeling. Con una narración entretenida, que gana conforme avanza, nos vamos sumergiendo en la investigación, reconstruyendo la historia a través de los personajes implicados, que van dando varios giros a esta trama.

It’s been years since the fragmented Mayweather clan was all in one place, but the engagement of Addison and Mason’s mom to the dad of their future stepbrother, Theo, brings the whole family to sunny Cancún, Mexico, for winter break. Add cousin Natalia to the mix, and it doesn’t take long for tempers to fray and tensions to rise. A week of forced family “fun” reveals that everyone has something to hide, and as secrets bubble to the surface, no one is safe from the fallout. By the end of the week, one member of the reunion party will be dead—and everyone’s a suspect:

Need Help?

An airport official glances at our customs slips and ushers us toward the end of line five. Give or take, one hundred and fifty people wait ahead of us. We’re going to be here a while. The perfect revenge thriller filled with potent themes of power, authority, higher education, access, privilege and class, The Reunion is the latest novel from Polly Phillips. After the success of last year’s My Best Friend’s Murder, Phillips serves up another devious frenemy drama set around one of the world’s most well-known education institutions, Cambridge University. With intrigue and suspicion around very corner, The Reunion proved to be one highly unpredictable read! As you can imagine, with the family drama, this book can be a bit heavy. But Meghan Quinn does a wonderful job of showing all sides of this complicated family relationship and writes family tension that everyone with significant family tension will relate to. Each love story is fantastic. I loved them all.
