The great thing about this book is that as it progresses, we see Maya’s confidence grow after seeing it become a little bit bruised after being dumped. It was good to see character progression, even if it did come from a slightly sad situation. Maya also has the support of her two best friends which was so good to see in this book, as I love seeing strong friendships and bonds between characters. Maya was also a really funny character, she had some really funny lines that I actually laughed out loud at. Bit awkward when you’re on the train! i read this book before i read take a chance on me by beth garrod and even though i read these two books one after the other i still loved both of them. unlike take a chance on me in this book our main character , Maya , (under short notice) is staying in her country for the summer and working at the local beach resort as a cleaner, then a lifeguard. This book follows the same story line as take a chance on me however i think that the two are different enough to be enjoyed one after the other (unless you get bored of the same tropes over and over.) i really liked the friendship Maya and Aimee had and i liked that they helped each other out . throughout this book i found myself laughing at parts and empathising with our main character, Maya ,this book was a fun, light, entertaining and a great read to take with you to the beach.
