September 20, 2011: Spectra Vondergeist makes her Monster High book debut in Where There's a Wolf, There's a Way. Accessories: She wears blue chain-and-ball earrings (same as her School's Out doll), two spiky purple bracelets on her left arm, and she has a big purple purse which she carries her towel in. Her towel has the same pattern as her swimsuit.

When confronted with the facts, she tended to dig in her heels. She drew the line at planting a fake story, though, which is completely against her morals. That isn't to say she wouldn't publish stories she believes are true, even if they really were lies. This makes for an excellent gossip columnist, but not a friend you want to share secrets with. In “ Creature Clash” in a presentation of her Scaritage, she mentions her great, great, great ghoulma, who haunted on the slay flower. It’s also mentioned that Spectra looks like her.

Her first bio stated it as 'everybody loves Spectra V', but seeming she wrote the bio, she may be lying. In the webisodes, she is never really seen hanging out with anyone and isn't immediately connected with any group of students. Accessories: Spectra comes with a beige chain link headband with a large pink flower, a pair of square cane earrings, a chainlink cane sash adorned with pink flowers, and two beige square cane bangles Spectra's surname "Vondergeist" is German ("von der Geist") and means "from the ghost/spirit". Interestingly, while Spectra made up being royalty, the "von" part of the name does suggest she's nobility.

Clothes: Spectra wears a sleeveless purple and hot pink dress that has many patterns and is cut jaggedly, pairing it with tall silver chain boots that are woven together.

Playsets [ ] For organizational purposes, information on the playsets associated with Spectra Vondergeist (G1), either because the playsets are made for their dolls or because one of their dolls is included with them, is only available elsewhere on the Monster High Wiki. Clothes: Spectra wears a lavender babydoll dress with a purple bow adorning the top, mesh cap sleeves, purple ribbon trimming, and and a scalloped hem lavender skirt with a lavender overlay that has a magenta and violet chain pattern on it. Both the skirt and overlay are Scallop hemmed. Spectra wears a modified version of her primary main line outfit. While her original skirt was magenta, with fading white spots, it now has a reflective silver hexagon pattern. The translucent parts of her body light up as she produces ghostly sound effects. To Howl For [ ] For the third doll in the 2023 Monster High Haunt Couture Midnight Runway Collection, we’re giving our ghostly gossip ghoul a glam masquerade makeover. Spectra Vondergeist appears in all her spooky splendor, wearing an airy mesh dress featuring puff sleeves and leather accents. Her tumble of long purple curls and a swirling sculptural mask give her an ethereal charm. The silver chain accents and translucent details at her arms and legs reflect her ghostly heritage.Spectra's first name might reference an unsuccessful Mattel brand of the same name, only running for a single year in 1986.

Spectra is a floating mystery. She used to be shy and reclusive, whispering her phrases, hanging by herself, and comfortable with that and, in fact, benefiting from her mysterious aura to blend in and watch her stories unfold beneath her eyes, spying on the students for scoops. However, ever since the secret face of her gossip blog, the Ghostly Gossip, was revealed, she has become more outgoing and less secretive. In " The Monstering", she mentions her ghoulma (grandma), saying she would take away her ICoffin if she fails hauntonomics. Journalism: Spectra is a good journalist, usually not getting her facts straight first, but she makes good stories and interesting ones. She eavesdrops around the school through walls and hiding and such, such as to prevent being caught, but she usually does not listen to what the monsters of the whole story say, and she says she leaves it to her artistic side to "fill in the blanks". Ghostly GossipSpectra's pet is a purple ghost ferret is named Rhuen. Rhuen's lower half is fairly translucent, and she wears a dark purple bow over her right ear. Rhuen's friends are Sir Hoots A Lot and Shiver. Clothes: Spectra wears a strapless waist dress in a deep yellow-green color with a chain link and flower pattern on it, along with beige platform heels covered in pink flowers. Her most recent bio states she's also quite close with Twyla Boogeyman a relationship that might be inspired by the reclusiveness of the two and their mysterious spookiness.
