About this deal

Speaking of apps, the AVR-X3700H is also controllable by the Denon 2016 AVR Remote app for smartphones. I found the HEOS app much more user-friendly though. The 2016 AVR Remote app was unreliable and buggy in my experience. When it did work, the functionality was limited. Most of the time if I’m out of the IR range of the AVR, the HEOS app worked fine. If I’m within IR range of the AVR, the remote works fine. To the topic at hand: you're both still missing my point. I'm not saying passive bi-amping with a receiver doing all 4 channels is as good as passive bi-amping with the receiver doing 2 channels and an external amp doing 2 channels. I'm not saying passive bi-amping (of any combination) will perform as well or better as an amplifier rated for twice the power If you are perfectly content with the sound system on your television and have zero desire to take your media intake to the next level, this is complete overkill. It has a feature set very much tailored to enthusiasts of film, television, games, and music. The Denon AVR-X3700H is an all in all very convincing AV amplifier with an incredibly good price-performance ratio. The equipment is very extensive and the 8K compatibility, as well as the 8K upscaling, have to be mentioned here first and foremost. Unfortunately, you have to do without Auro-3D completely. The sound is mega and the clarity is excellent. In summary, the Denon AVR-X3700H delivers 8K video, 9 power amplifiers, great 3D sound, and plenty of power, so brand lovers will not be disappointed.

But for those who are looking to take the next step, it provides a good amount of coverage and is 8K capable. This comes in stark contrast with competitors like Yamaha, who have the AVENTAGE home theater receiver. And that is just about all. After competitos Pioneer, Onkyo and Sony all seem to have given up on home cinema receivers. Proper experiences require a proper receiver. Photo: Denon ConclusionBuild quality is another strong point of Denon receivers. They’re well-constructed and designed to last. Many models include robust metal chassis that can withstand years of use. The scale and authority is mightily impressive for a home cinema amp costing a smidgen less than a grand, but Denon has still managed to get the basics right, too. There is plenty to feed our two subwoofers, but you wouldn’t say this is a particularly bassy mix; rather it is well balanced, open at both ends, and smooth throughout its frequency range.

Other common features include support for 4K video passthrough, multi-room audio support, airplay compatibility, and more. The result is an AVR-X3600H that is sneaking up on its bigger sibling in terms of performance and connectivity. If you have a grand to spend on an AV receiver, Denon should still be at the top of your list. Everybody will be able to make use of this amp’s 3D audio support, though – whether or not you have dedicated height speakers –which runs to Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Virtualization Technology, DTS:X, DTS Virtual:X and IMAX Enhanced. The TX-NR595 also features Chromecast built-in, so you can easily cast your favorite music, podcasts, or internet radio stations from your mobile device to the receiver. The 3700H is lighter than its higher end siblings which I personally appreciated as I lugged it around. When you think about it, the transformers are only like 10-15lbs. They would overheat and burn if 700 watts went through them continuously.

It remains engaging at low volumes, too, which will please the neighbours once you’ve had enough of turning it right up and wondering at how its composure remains intact.Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) HDMI support: Through the main HDMI output, connect your TV with eARC HDMI support to allow uncompressed and object-based audio formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X directly from your smart TV app to your AV amplifier. Edit: If anyone wants a free extra 20 watts to listen to a few loud songs, just turn your variac up to 132 volts! It works lol. Just don't leave it there when you're not listening to loud music. And maybe use a fan if a few loud songs turns into many. You don't want heat damage!! I planned to do something like this for a music setup, but no receiver I've come across (in my price range) has a high enough performance DAC. Even really expensive receivers like the Denon 8500 barely make the cut.

Similarly, users can also take advantage of a new selective pre-amplifier mode that allows each speaker pair to be assigned to ‘Pre-out only’ for use with an external power amp. Previously this option could only be activated for all or none of the outputs. But now if you decide to upgrade the amplification of your front pair, for example, you can do so. A not entirely unimportant innovation or improvement is the disabling of internal power amplifiers. This allows the AVR-X3700H to be used as a preamplifier for external power amplifiers. As usual with Denon, the AVR-X3700H has another speaker configuration for alternative storage of speaker setups. Unfortunately, neither FM nor DAB+ is available, which is why this device can only act as an amplifier and not as a receiver. Denon AVR-X3700H Review: Streaming & Multimedia Elsewhere there’s also 8K upscaling offered on all HDMI inputs, plus eARC on one of the outputs so that advanced audio formats such as Dolby Atmos can be received by the AVR via the same HDMI through which it sends video signals to the connected display. I have called Denon support and tech support guy said there's some issue with the device/piece and asked me to return it. Anyone experienced this type of issue with Denon (I dont think so)...felt very bad to switch to Denon (primary reason is to upgrade to Atmos/DTSX AVR that is future proof (8K) ), I never had a single issue with my Yamaha. If you want more HDMI 2.1 inputs for your many elite and varied consoles, you should take a look at the Yamaha RX-V6A, which has three HDMI 2.1 inputs instead of the Denon's one.
