About this deal

The Christian holiday of Corpus Christi, also known as The Feast of Corpus Christi, is observed yearly on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday. It is celebrated to honour the sacred body of Jesus. Also known as Corpus Domini, the festival falls on June 8 this year.

Eighteen-year-old Mallory Greenleaf is no longer interested in chess, not since her hypercompetitive dad left—the game calls up painful memories. But she grudgingly agrees to play in a charity tournament as a favor to best friend Easton Peña. After she unexpectedly beats current world champion Nolan Sawyer, she’s offered a fellowship that will prepare her to play professionally. Even though Mallory doesn’t want to play anymore, she needs the money that winning would provide; she’s delayed college to support her family, since her mother is chronically ill with rheumatoid arthritis and is unable to work regularly. The more time she spends with Nolan, the more Mallory comes to like and respect him—and the more time she spends playing chess, the more she remembers how much she loved it. But when she learns that Nolan has been keeping a big secret from her, she isn’t sure if she’ll be able to move past it to build a relationship with him. Filled with the author’s signature humor, well-developed characters, and realistic conflicts, plus the fully realized setting of competitive chess, this captivating romance will delight teen readers as well as Hazelwood’s adult fans. Mallory and Nolan are both cued white; there is some racial diversity among the supporting cast. Mallory and Easton are queer. Trigger warnings for drug/alcohol abuse, self harm, suicidal thoughts, attempted suicide, child abuse, neglect, and death. They still have that spark. But there’s plenty of unanswered questions they have to work toward answering if they have any hope of lasting for the long haul. Romance and Steam

I really liked Eva! I felt for her dealing with her chronic illness, whilst working and being a single parent. She was a great character and I wanted the best for her after a rough start in life.

Over the next seven days in the middle of a steamy Brooklyn summer, Eva and Shane reconnect, but Eva's not sure how she can trust the man who broke her heart, and she needs to get him out of New York so that her life can return to normal. But before Shane disappears again, there are a few questions she needs answered... It is observed on 29 June annually to spread awareness about conservation strategies and to promote tropical regions on Earth. May was a bit of a bust for me reading wise other than The Last Thing He Told Me. I can tell many books published this year were written during the pandemic and they just have a bit of a down vibe. But Seven Days in June broke that trend—it’s compelling, romantic and complicated, with some humor but also tough scenes. It’s not simply a love story. But about survival and accepting who you truly are—flaws included. What’s the Book About I love love love Eva and Shane! It’s been a while since I’ve read such strong characters in a love story. I went into this novel believing it would be more of a lighter read but there’s actually quite a bit of depth. We follow their journey from reconnecting as adults to their first meeting as teenagers. In high school, Shane and Eva, then Genevieve Mercier, had a whirlwind friendship. Eva’s mother, Lizette, spent her lifetime following men around, depending on them to provide for her. Finding herself again at a new school, after fighting off her mom’s latest boyfriend, Eva is determined to make a new friend. She approaches the cute, loner boy, Shane. He’s not particularly friendly, but when one of their classmates takes issue with Eva, and cuts her hair, calling it a weave, a fight breaks out in the classroom. While the teacher escapes, Shane uses his cast to fight one of the kids, defending Eva, and breaking his arm once more. They both end up in the hospital and sneak out together, going to crash at a friend’s of Shane. Seems once again I’m a bit of a wrongreader here and didn’t fall over myself about this recent Reese’s Book Club selection like all the other horny housewives did. Mainly due to the fact that you can’t write about stupid shit such as clothing like this . . . . The Author Resource Round Table on Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_folder/116489?group_id=26989 While Shane is in town over the next week, he and Eva spend time together but Eva has her guard up, considering their past. The story alternate between their current week and their time together 15 years ago. Building and supporting a community of self-published authors dedicated to both sharing experiences and learning as equals.

Decades later, Eva and Shane have learned to live without one another. Since high school, Eva has gone to rehab, attended college, won a writing contest, and signed a book deal. The book deal makes her a sensation in the world of erotic literature. Over the years, Eva continues expanding her Cursed series. Though she feels conflicted about the work, she also knows the books have sustained her. She lives with her daughter, Audre, in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Outside of writing, Eva has few friends and does little to expand her social life. This day is observed annually on 20 June to raise awareness about the struggles that refugees face around the world. World Refugee Day also marks a key moment for the public to show support for families forced to flee. Overall, this is truly a romantic read that will make you want the TV version to come out ASAP. Verdict I experienced a range of emotions reading this book and enjoyed the story. Did I already mention that it is fun?! I devoured the book over a weekend. (Thanks for the recommendation Elle!) I highly recommend Seven Days in June. It is by no means PG with its big topics and very sexy scenes.

This book gave all me all the things, every emotion you can feel, it gave. Told in two different timelines, it was unflinchingly raw and honest and at the same time was layered with so many different types of love. Romantic love, parental love, friendship, student/teacher, community, and culture. From generational trauma, to dealing with a chronic debilitating disability to drug abuse and the struggle of single motherhood, this book doesn't shy away from difficult topics. Shane and Eva burrowed themselves into my heart, their stories are so heartbreaking and tragic but at the same time their resilience and strength is so beautiful and inspiring. I loved this book with my whole heart. 💙 This day is celebrated every year on 15 June to raise the voice for caring elders. Elder abuse is a global social issue that affects the Health and Human Rights of millions of older persons around the world. The day was officially recognised by the United Nations General Assembly. When Eva invites Shane over one day, she’s forgotten that Audre has no school that day, so the two meet. Audre is apprehensive after a recent fight between her and her mother but both she and Shane are curious about each other. June4: Hug Your Cat Day, National Cheese Day, International Corgi Day, National Trails Day* (first Saturday)

June 21:Go Skateboarding Day, International Day of Yoga, National Seashell Day, National Selfie Day, Summer Solstice/Summer Begins* (varies), Make Music Day This book follows Eva, a semi-struggling romance writer and single mom, and Shane, an enigmatic wildly successful bad boy of the literary world. We find out that they spent 7 sordid days together in, you guessed it, June of one high school year or other, and also by sordid I mean "violent, sexual, addictive, and generally a huge unexpected tone shift for lil old me and our lil old characters." Seven Days in June is a fun, sexy read. There is a slight magical element, with Eva having a near-death experience each time something major is about to happen in her life.

Eva Mercy, a single mum and erotic writer, and Shane Hall, an award winning literary author meet at a book event and sparks fly. What no one else knows though, is that they've met before, after having a week long romance when they were teenagers. As they reconnect in this second chance romance, can Eva trust Shane after he broke her heart fifteen years ago? As Shane is battling with his own demons, can they make it work?
