About this deal

Another improvement over such units as the Multi-Stomp series by Zoom is that this unit also provides a resource monitor in the software, which shows how much memory a patch uses, unlike the MS70-CDR or G1on, where the user has no indication that a patch is using too much memory until he or she is alerted that memory resources have been exceeded. There are additional internal effects that can be loaded onto the unit via the USB port. To this you need to connect the G1X to a PC and run the software that is provided. It would be nicer if all the effects could be loaded on to the device at the same time, as this would remove the need for a PC. I rarely connect the pedal to a PC and hence I'm probably missing out on some useful effects. On power supply and connection. The pedal is powered by AA batteries, power bank, usb or power supply. PC connection via micro-usb. There is an aux.

Furthermore, the G1 Four multi-effects processor has an onboard chromatic tuner that supports all standard guitar tunings, including open and drop tunings. A Sonic Experience Off the Floor The G1 FOUR/G1X FOUR’s control panel is also designed for hands-on, desktop use. Dial in tones and adjust level settings with absolute precision to craft your perfect sound. Plug and play to any speaker, PA system, headphone or amp and get literally thousands of good tones with zero noise. Can also act as an audio interface for your guitar. Almost every detail can be tweaked using the idiot proof ergonomics. Pedal chains, mic placement etc. The looper's timing is also modifiable. The built in drummer covers a lot of time signatures and styles for various genres. Runs via an ac adapter, 4x AA batteries (16+ hours of continuous use) or even a powerbank via the micro usb port. The ZOOM G1on is a low profile, plastic box with 2 “flippers” for foot switching and some knobs and buttons for navigating the presets and changing settings. Obviously a solid metal construction at this price point is not viable, and ZOOM has done a good job at designing a robust pedal that is hard to break. ZOOM have been making low price, plastic pedals for decades and so if anyone knows how to make a plastic pedal that will last, ZOOM do. This reviewer once owned one of the earlier ZOOM G1 pedals made in the early 2000’s and can testify that so long as you don’t wear rugby boots; their pedals can stand up regular use valiantly.

It's quite affordable, especially at the current price of 67 euro. With that, I have to say build quality is acceptable, but I would avoid stomping it with my feet (as I'm a heavy guy). Not sure how it would hold up outside of the bedroom. Cannot give it more than 4 stars for build quality. Whatever sound you’re looking for; be it classic, modern or something entirely new – it’s possible with the Zoom G1 FOUR Multi-FX unit. The only negative thing I would say is the plastic shell seems a little too light and likely would not hold up to heavy use. It should be fine with proper care. Stay Looped In The built-in looper can record up to 30 seconds of playing, allowing you to create dynamic, multi-part arrangements. Your Favourite Amps and Cabinets With 13 classic amps and cabinets like Fender, Marshall, Orange and more*, the G1 series brings big stage sound wherever you go.In terms of construction, I think this is a definite upgrade from the G1on. The construction is a little more heavy duty and the footswitches seem to be more suited for frequent stage use. Looper for recording up to 30 seconds / 64 beats of CD-quality audio with seamless start and endtimes BUT: It is by default set to "amp" output mode and it does NOT have a global switch to change to "mixer" or "headphone" mode (!!??). So you have to trigger a cryptic "microphone" feature in the cabinet simulation to get a decent sound when playing via the livingroom stereo or even listening to it via headphones (!?) I mean, you can do that, but you have to do it for EVERY patch you use. Okay, no problem so far, but you need to inform the customers about that. I guess most of the time the device is gonna be uses in a livingroom or with a computer or a DAW or headphones. Not with a "real" cabinet. Learned about that "microphone" mode from the interent. I use this at home as my main effects unit. It's usually the only effects unit in my signal chain. Overall I'm very happy with the unit for this purpose.
