The Bambino has a very domed mineral crystal, which looks great to look at. There are also some difference in the dial design but the difference in watch crystal form is the most obvious between these two lovely watches.
As mentioned earlier, there are three case designs available for this model. These are stainless steel, gunmetal, or gold-finished. Unlike Seiko, Orient seems to be more willing to fork out more money to produce different variations of a single model. This is a very good thing as not all people have the same taste =) Inside this movement, there are 21 jewels that act to reduce frictions at various moving parts inside the watch. It’s also moving at 21600 vibrations per hour or 6 beats per second.All in all, the dial is nicely done with various elements complimenting each other in harmony. Truly a nice design. Otherwise everything about it was amazing!! This is the third Orient watch review I’ve done, and like the other two, the Symphony feels well built. The rotor precisely winds the movement, the hands are properly aligned, and the movement feels taught and firm when operated.
The case is pretty standard for the price range. It feels as well built as the other Orient’s I’ve reviewed, and because of this, I suspect it will keep looking good for quite some time. If it does start to show its age, you can polish it easily enough. If you are looking for a stylish, classy, and well-built automatic timepiece, this may be a watch for you. When I reviewed the Bambino I complained that the strap wasn’t as comfortable as I’d like it to have been. Happily, the Symphony’s strap feels softer and more luxurious. It’s lightweight and comfortable to wear for hours at a time. Not wanting to leave something unfixed and be a victim of more consumption in this modern age I sought the help of Orient direct. My watch friend advised me that he had a great experience some years ago and I was hoping for the same treatment as a long time customer.On the other hand, I would be hesitant to expose a 30-meter water-resistant watch to more than just the occasional splash. I think of it as a sort of a sibling rivalry. The Bambino is the cool and popular older brother who is all talk while the Symphony is the quiet and reserved younger brother who keeps his head down and gets the job done. In general, I like how Orient’s affordability allows me to try out styles and trends that have piqued my interest, without having to commit to a more expensive option. Rose gold, for example, is a very “now” choice for case metal. Seeing all the incredible rose gold models rolling out from everyone from Audemars Piguet to Omega, I started wondering what a nice dress watch of that hue would look like on my wrist. Aside from so-called missed opportunities, the brown crocodile-grain leather strap pairs well with the dial. Orient wisely decided to endow the Symphony with 22mm lugs, so you can swap said strap out easily enough if you want to.The average turnaround time for repairs is 6-8 weeks, but it would likely be much longer at this time due to our service station being closed as a result of COVID-19, plus the transit time each way. Where a lot of movements in this price range incorporate plastic parts, the 48473 is all metal. It’s widely known to be a tough, reliable movement. There are mixed feelings regarding accuracy, with the general consensus being that it’s not necessarily as accurate as it is consistent. This watch uses the Cal. 48743 automatic self-wind movement made in house by Orient. The usage of automatic movement means that it basically does not uses any battery like a quartz watch. Both have big advantage to the usability of an automatic watch, though I have to say that in my opinion manual winding capability is a much bigger advantage to have (read my post here on why and how to wind an automatic watch for more info).
The Orient Symphony has a nice traditional dress watch look. It has a good proportion due to its almost symmetry dial design. All the elements on the dial are moderately sized with respect to each other. the pics don't do it justice. very nice, simple looking watch. i guess you could call is classic looking. if that's what you're looking for, don't hesitate!! But for this watch, the design is more to dressy and casual like so pairs of short and slim lugs are the wisest design decision.All in all, there’s really nothing to complain about the dial, and Orient has done a great job with its execution. It’s in the same class as the Bambino, another beautiful dress watch by Orient. The blunt truth is you chose a brand that does not do business on/in your continent/country. I live in the USA and if I sourced a Citroën car, I would not expect help from the manufacturer come service time. The Orient Symphony is available in a number of different versions and designs. It is available with either leather straps or a metal bracelet, and with different dial colors. In addition, it is available both with a gold case, steel case, or a gunmetal finish.
