Addition of channels for AUDIO4c routing configurations. Stream is revised to be only stereo channels for compatibility with streaming software. As time went on, my home studio grew more complex.. and device heavy. I've got a bunch of synths (some of which no longer play well with Windows via USB, due to old drivers), an Alesis strike pro drum kit, guitar amps which support midi, various effects pedals that support midi, so on.. and so forth. MIDI, especially over USB, was just an endless nightmarish frustration when trying to record.The box includes 1X mioXL, a USB cable to connect it all together and power for your XL device (batteries are not included), as well as an Ethernet connection that will be used if needed. Software-wise, we found it easy to navigate and figure out on our own with little help from others who may know more than us. I've started a default routing spreadsheet. New to mioXL : store and recall up to 32 presets directly on the interface, without even needing a computer! The short answer is that if you spend the time to learn it, the mio will do what you need--whatever that might be. The "problem" is that you have to learn how it works. Stability fixes for USB and RTP discovery and communication. Performance is greatly improved for RTP. However, RTP is still recommended for use over only wired connections. I have been using the mio10 units since they came out, and they were not bad (better than the MOTU XTs I replaced them with). There were some growing pains, and advanced configuration of them (including network MIDI) was painful using the original iConfig utility. The Auracle software helped "normal" users who were not trying to do anything complex, but more advanced config still required the iConfig utility which is difficult to use at best...there were promises that the Auracle software would replace it for advanced config, but that has yet to materialize and they have moved the older mio devices to "legacy" status as of a few months ago when they launched the mioXL. mioXL’s OLED display and encoder wheel gives you a crisp clear way of monitoring MIDI traffic, viewing, and selecting presets.
