The acute inflammatory or demyelinating form of optic neuropathy that involves one or both optic nerves is termed optic neuritis (ON). The most common type of ON is labeled “typical”, or “demyelinating ON”, which may be associated with multiple sclerosis (MS) or may be idiopathic [3].
