About this deal

Bottle sterilizers kill bacteria on the surface of baby bottles or other items that you use to feed your baby. Though they do the same job, sterilizers have different capabilities. Here are some things to keep in mind. Hold the bottle at a 45-degree angle when feeding your baby. The end of the reservoir tube should be out of the liquid. Not the most budget-friendly electric steriliser we tested, and a more expensive initial outlay than microwave or travel versions

The caveat is that you’ll need a microwave to use them, which might not always be available – and, more importantly, sterilising just two bottles at a time won’t be feasible if you’re bottle-feeding full-time. If you overheat the liquid in the bottle, the vapor will rise and condense in the vent. To prevent this, avoid warming the liquid beyond body temperature. Protecting our babies from germs is every parent's priority, so sterilising bottles, teats, breast pumps and dummies is a part of every new parent's life. If you're breastfeeding you may be expressing milk, and if you're formula feeding you'll be using plenty of bottles for your baby. You may even want to sterilise small toys too.

It takes one touch of a button to start a cycle and, if you have any accompanying Tommee Tippee bottles, each bottle is clearly marked to show how much water to add to the steriliser – a thoughtful touch that our tester really appreciated. We spoke with three moms on BabyCenter's staff about their experience with three of the bottle sterilizers on this list It’s not as roomy as the microwave steriliser bags like the ones made by Philips or Medela, which can usually fit two bottles or a bottle and a breast pump – this fits one or the other According to the NHS, sterilising feeding equipment is necessary for the first 12 months to keep your baby free from bacteria that could harm their brand-new immune systems. If you’re planning on expressing breast milk, combination feeding or using a dummy during your baby’s first year, you’ll need to sterilise all the relevant baby equipment after every use.BabyCenter's editorial team is committed to providing the most helpful and trustworthy pregnancy and parenting information in the world. We sought guidance from the AAP and the CDC on what parents should look for in baby bottle sterilizers. Per their advice, all the bottle sterilizers on this list: The disadvantages are the smell, the need to continually buy new tablets and the inconvenience of keeping a large container full of water in a corner of your kitchen – especially relevant if you have other small children. 2. Electric steriliser We got the Baby Brezza bottle sterilizer because it was the only one we could find that also dried the bottles. It's great!"

We find it really easy and it just gets kept in the microwave when not in use. It does four bottles at once which stay sterilised for 24 hours if you keep the lid on."Loved by Mumsnet user OvertiredOverthinker. Our verdict There are four main sterilisation units on the market: cold water sterilisers, microwave sterilisers, electric sterilisers and travel sterilisers. They all have their own pros and cons. 1. Cold water steriliser We tried electric and microwave and ended up using cold water Milton - it’s so easy just keep adding bottles after washing them and they’re sterile in 15 min."Tried and tested by Mumsnetter CharlieB93 Our verdictFinally, she looked at whether the steriliser represented good value for money considering the features it provided for a wide customer base, noting whether or not she’d buy another if the sample model broke.
